Blue-green algae can be toxic to dogs. ☢️

It may appear as scum or green paint on the surface of ponds or lakes, but even a small amount can cause dogs to become seriously ill. Keep them out of water that looks suspicious, and always check for warning signs when out on walks.

Freddie recently came in for his geriatric wellness screen, and was such a calm superstar 😇 he seemed to appreciate all the attention!

We did find that his blood pressure is a little high, despite being outwardly well, so luckily we have detected this before it causes him any problems 🩺

Well done Fred!

Due to finding out Freddie was slightly hypertensive, we are able to monitor this frequently as he ages and help prevent and control any issues in the future 👏

INTRODUCING OUR VETS ⭐️ - Dr Abbie King

Abbie graduated in 2020 and joined Riverside at the end of 2024. She has settled in brilliantly with our team and is loving getting to know our clients.

Abbie enjoys many aspects that being a “general practitioner” vet brings, including being able to see a variety of patients with different needs. She likes discussing preventative healthcare, especially chatting about dental care. In particular she also likes having continuity of care for patients because she gets to know them and their owners well and find what works for them.

Abbie likes working with nervous patients and building up their courage for examinations (or making the experience at least a little less daunting). She is one of our “OV” vets, who can help get your pets on European holidays with you. Her favourite thing is giving patients treats after a consult!

She has recently adopted two beautiful kittens, who she is thoroughly spoiling with toys. In her spare time, she travels with her husband to different theme parks.
