We’ve been working with Willow to help reduce her reactivity. We first worked with her as a puppy, with a focus on loose lead walking; and at the time, it worked really well.

As Willow got older though, the methods we’d previously used were no longer giving us the same results, so we adapted our approach. We went back to basics and conditioned loose lead walking on a long line before gradually reintroducing the main lead.

This has helped build much stronger engagement and has led to a huge improvement in her loose lead walking.

Today we helped Daisy overcome her fear of getting into the car.

At first, jumping into the ā€œblack holeā€ of the car seat felt far too scary, but once she realised it wasn’t so frightening after all, she picked it up incredibly quickly. By the end of the session, she was hopping in with so much more confidence; such a lovely bit of progress to see 🐾

Dogs are amazing. With structure, routine, guidance, and consistent training, they learn to tune into you.

We’ve gone from training and conditioning Ivy indoors, helping her understand her dad’s pace, to taking that training outside and applying it in real-world environments.

The long line is simply being used as a safety measure whilst we continue to build confidence, understanding, and reliability.

It was lovely to have Violet join her sister Blossom today. She wasn’t feeling too well, but engaged when she could and was quite happy watching Blossom’s training session.🐾

This is why so many people struggle with loose lead walking!

Using a retractable lead creates constant tension on the lead. If your dog hasn’t specifically been conditioned for loose lead walking on a retractable, the moment that lead releases, the click followed by tension tells your dog: ā€œFreedom!ā€

Over time, dogs become used to walking against pressure, which is exactly why they continue to pull once the lead is locked. To them, tension on the lead becomes completely normal.

Loose lead walking starts with teaching your dog that pressure means slow down and reconnect; not pull harder to get where they want to go.

What a cracking session with the handsome Smiley!

His loose lead walking has come on absolute leaps and bounds, we couldn't be more chuffed with his progress!

During our one-to-one, we achieved brilliant engagement from Smiley throughout, and his pawrents did a fab job learning to spot those subtle behaviours. The small shifts in body language that signal he's about to start pulling. Knowledge like that is an absolute game changer for walks!

A massive well done to the whole team.
