Happy 1st Birthday, Luna 🎉🎂

Swipe to see her birthday present 🎁

I was lucky enough to spend Luna's 1st birthday with her today. We enjoyed a walk-and-train session, worked on some obedience, and had plenty of play — exactly how she'd choose to spend her day!

It's such a privilege to be part of these dogs' lives and celebrate special moments alongside them. I always like to mark their birthdays with a little gift to help make the day extra special and what better way to celebrate than with a Happy Woofs pick n mix bag.❤️🐾

Happy Birthday, Luna! I hope you've had the best day. ✨🎂💕

Good dogs have bad days too.

One bad training session doesn't mean all your progress has disappeared. One difficult walk doesn't undo months of hard work.

Social media often shows the highlights, but very rarely the lows. Every dog has off days. They're living, breathing animals, not robots programmed to perform perfectly every time.

There are countless reasons your dog might struggle on a particular day, and that's okay.

Even as dog professionals, our dogs are allowed an off day. Perfection doesn't exist, and expecting it isn't fair on them.

We can put huge amounts of pressure on ourselves to have the "perfect" dog because of the industry we're in, but the reality is that perfection doesn't actually exist.

Our dogs aren't machines. They have emotions, experiences, and individual needs that can change from day to day. Expecting them to show up exactly the same way, every single day, isn't realistic.

Give your dog some grace. Tomorrow is another day.

River & Bonnie 🤍

Two of Sevyn K9's newest recruits 🐾

One thing I really value in this industry is having people around you that you genuinely trust with your clients' dogs. It can be easy to see everyone as competition, but that mindset doesn't benefit the dogs, the owners, or the professionals involved.

Claire and I regularly help each other out when needed. I take her clients' dogs when she can't, and she does the same for me. We trust each other's abilities, experience, and handling skills with all sorts of dogs, which gives us both confidence that the dogs are receiving the same level of care and understanding they deserve.

After being ill at the start of this week, it really reminded me how important it is to have trusted people in your corner. Knowing there is someone who can step in and care for your client dogs to a high standard when life throws the unexpected at you is invaluable.

Collaboration over competition, always. ❤️🐾

Small dog ≠ small exercise needs 🐾

A dog’s size doesn’t determine how much exercise or mental stimulation they need.

Some small breeds were bred to herd, hunt, guard, and work all day long — meaning they often need far more outlets than people expect and when they don't get those outlets, that's where problems start to arise.

On the flip side, some of the giant breeds are more than happy being couch potatoes.

Before choosing a dog, look into what they were originally bred for rather than just whether they physically fit into your home or how much room they'll take up on your sofa.

Do you have a small breed dog and are struggling with some of the issues mentioned? Drop me a message to see how I can help 🐶

Swipe to see client review from Pepper & Goose’s owner 🖤

Being trusted by fellow dog professionals to walk their dogs is something I never take lightly. It means a lot knowing they feel confident their dogs are in safe, knowledgeable and capable hands while out with me 🐾

A little reminder that warmer weather can be much harder on our dogs than we sometimes realise ☀️🐾

Keeping them safe, comfortable and stress-free always comes first — even if that means changing routines or slowing things down a little 💛

When a dog’s behaviour suddenly changes — whether that’s reactivity, withdrawal, irritability, or not coping in situations they used to handle — it’s not always a training issue. Very often, it’s a welfare issue.

Pain and discomfort don’t always look obvious. Dogs are incredibly good at hiding it, and what we often label as “stubborn,” “reactive,” or “difficult” can actually be a dog trying to communicate that something isn’t right in their body.

Before increasing training pressure or trying to correct the behaviour, it’s important to ask the question: could this be pain related?

Because if pain is the driver, no amount of training will fix the root cause.

Understanding this changes everything.

Listen to what your dog is trying to tell you.
