We have a team of devoted nurses caring for our in- patients who have many years of experience across a broad range of species.

We understand it can be a stressful time when your pets fall ill, that is why we try to do everything in our power to make you and your pet feel reassured.The care and comfort of our patients is as important to us as their medical treatment. With huge amounts of compassion and consideration our veterinary nurses strive to provide the best care possible. All of our qualified nurses are trained to a high standard and are registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

☀️ Heat Stroke Can Be Fatal for Pets – Know the Signs ☀️

As temperatures rise this week, our pets are at increased risk of heat stroke, a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate veterinary attention.

🐾 Signs of heat stroke include:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Drooling more than usual
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Weakness, lethargy, or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Disorientation or seizures

🚨 What to do if you suspect heat stroke:
• Move your pet to a cool, shaded area immediately.
• Offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water.
• Wet them with cool water, focusing on the belly, paws, and neck.
• Contact us straight away for advice and urgent assessment.

✅ Prevention tips:
• Never leave pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
• Walk dogs during cooler parts of the day.
• Ensure constant access to fresh water and shade.
• Take extra care with flat-faced breeds, older pets, puppies, and pets with underlying health conditions.

🐾💛 Puppy overload alert! 💛🐾

We were delighted to welcome this adorable litter of 8 Golden Retriever puppies to the practice for their very first vaccinations last week! 🐶✨

These little bundles of fluff were all incredibly brave and received plenty of cuddles from our team along the way 🌼

Their first vaccination is an important step in helping protect them as they begin exploring the world and growing into happy, healthy dogs 🐶 🐾

Meet Frankie 🧡 a handsome ginger boy has was very brave last week and is now officially castrated! 😺 He's home, recovering comfortably, and enjoying lots of cuddles, treats, and well-deserved fuss. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Frankie! 🐾✨

🐱 Meet Pip! 🐱

Pip visited us recently for his castration procedure and was an absolute star throughout his stay. ⭐

Castration is a routine procedure that helps prevent unwanted litters and can provide several health and behavioural benefits for cats. Pip recovered beautifully and was soon ready to head home for some well-earned cuddles and rest. Here he is having some of those cuddles with receptionist Amy ❤️

We'd like to thank Pip's family for trusting us with his care. We wish this handsome boy a speedy recovery! 💙

🐾 Fynn was in today for his annual booster vaccination and was an absolute superstar! 🌟

Keeping up to date with vaccinations is an important part of protecting your dog's health and helping them stay happy, healthy, and ready for all of life's adventures. 🐶💉

Fynn took everything in his stride and enjoyed plenty of fuss from the team. Well done, Fynn!❤️

🤎🖤 Introducing Monty 🖤🤎

Handsome Bengal x Monty visited our vet Alex after his family found a swelling on his paw last month following a recent adventure 🐾

He went home with some treatment and he visited us last week to recheck the area. We are pleased to report that Monty’s paw has now fully healed and he is back to his usual adventurous self 🐱

This little sweetheart is Jelly Bean and she recently had her first visit to the vets 💛 she’s a sweet little Jack Russell Terrier x Chihuahua and we think she just adorable 🥰

A big hello to beautiful Bella, who recently visited us for a repeat bladder ultrasound. These follow-up scans are an important way for us to monitor progress and ensure our patients are responding well to treatment.

Bella was an absolute superstar throughout her appointment, staying calm and cooperative while receiving plenty of attention from our team. Her favourite part of the visit seemed to be handing out lots of kisses to everyone she met! 💕🐶

We're always grateful for patients like Bella who make our day brighter with their wagging tails and affectionate nature ❤️

Hi my name is Alex, I’m one of the vets here at Barton Vets 🐾

I graduated from the university of Liverpool in 2024 and started at Barton the same year (my first vet job!) I really enjoy getting to see all your lovely pets, and try my best to make them feel as safe and comfortable as I can ❤️

In my free time you will find me out adventuring with my little rescue dog Maggie, or cuddling up on the sofa with my cat Mabel (the queen of the house👑)
