🐾 Hey there Delilah 🐾

Delilah recently visited us after her owner noticed that she wasn't quite herself and seemed under the weather.

Following a consultation with one of our vets, an abdominal ultrasound was recommended to help investigate the cause of her symptoms. Ultrasound imaging is a valuable, non-invasive diagnostic tool that allows us to examine the internal organs in real time and gather important information to guide treatment decisions.

Delilah was a very brave patient throughout her visit and received plenty of fuss from our team. ❤️

Delilah’s scan was performed using our new ultrasound machine by our vets Alex and Scott, and we'd like to extend a huge thank you to Jerry at Imotek, for providing excellent training to our team. Their support has helped us make the most of this fantastic equipment, enabling us to deliver high-quality diagnostic care for patients like Delilah 🐾

🐾🩻Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month: diagnostic imaging 🩻🐾

Our nurses are highly trained in taking X-rays, along with preparing patients for ultrasound procedures, which helps us to gather the vital information needed to diagnose and treat illness and injury quickly and safely.

From positioning patients carefully and monitoring them throughout procedures, to ensuring images are clear and accurate for our vets to assess, veterinary nurses are an essential part of every step in the imaging process.

Amy, our veterinary nurse, was assisting Cheryl, the vet, last week to take X-rays of our little hedgehog patient 🦔

Do you remember little Raven and Rose? 🐾

They popped back in for their health check last week and we couldn’t believe our eyes. Now 8 months old, these two have grown from tiny pups into confident explorers. We love seeing familiar faces come back all grown up!💚

🌞 Happy Bank Holiday from everyone at Barton Veterinary Centre🐾

With the warmer weather this weekend, we’d like to remind all pet owners about the dangers of heatstroke in pets. 🐶🐱 Heatstroke is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that can develop very quickly.

⚠️ Signs to watch for:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Thick drooling
• Red or pale gums
• Weakness, lethargy, or stumbling
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Confusion or collapse

❗ What to do:
• Move your pet to a cool, shaded area
• Use cool (not cold) water on their body, especially the head, neck, and chest
• Offer small amounts of water
• Contact a vet immediately — heatstroke is an emergency

☀️ Prevention tips:
• Never leave pets in cars
• Make sure fresh water and shade are always available
• Avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day
• Use cooling mats, vests, or fans where needed

Please note that the practice is closed today for the Bank Holiday, but our out-of-hours emergency service is still available should your pet need urgent veterinary care.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine 💛

Meet Maverick 🐱

Maverick belongs to our nurse Amy, he came in to see us for his castration 🐱💙

He stayed with us for the day, where he was looked after by the team from start to finish. As with all of our patients he had a full check-over by the vet before having his procedure. 🩺

He was a little spicy and sassy throughout his stay and certainly enjoyed playing up for his mum (we think he knew exactly what he was doing! 😼)

Luna the Labrador puppy paid us a visit for her general health check and a bit of socialisation 🐶💛

She was full of excitement from the moment she arrived which definitely explains the slightly blurry photo! Wiggles and tail wags 📸✨

Visits like these are a great way to help young pups get used to the practice environment while making sure they’re happy and healthy 🐾🤍
