Last week we loaded up and headed to The Driffield Show. Desmond put Crowle show behind him and took 1st, Diamond was once again down the line but she will get her time next year hopefully once she is older.
The sheep had a fantastic day. We only took 4 pens but the Gimmers won their class, the heavy lambs took 1st, other heavies 2nd and the lights came 1st.
Pair of heavies then took champion for the section with the lights taking reserve.
The heavies will be at Selby Livestock Auction Mart on Wednesday.

At the weekend we attended Crowle show, everyone was still tired from GYS but the weather looked ok and it wasn't too early a start! Desmond, Diamond and Wish took 3rds, Willow came 1st and then did her debut young handler class to take 2nd in that. Various results for the sheep we took out but our Gimmer won her class and then took champion. She is a cracking gimmer and out of our show ewe who has many winnings herself.
Lovely day out and plenty of cattle supporting the native and commercial classes.

Bit of a delay with this as it's been busy with shows but I'll do them separately.
Last week we went to the Great Yorkshire Show with a smaller team of sheep and our first time showing Commercial cattle.
The sheep were not the judges cup of tea but we got a 6th in a large h/w butchers lamb class.
Star of the show was Mr Desmond who won his class and then went on to take Champion bullock!! We were definitely shocked and thank you to everyone helped tapping him up, dressing him and all the people who congratulated us after.
Miss Diamond was one of the lightest in her split and came 7th, just out of the rosettes.
As usual a good week was had with numerous laughs with new friends and old.

On Saturday we went to Winterton Show with a full house. Mr Desmond came 2nd, Miss Diamond got a 3rd, Wish came 1st and Willow 2nd. Wish also teamed up with Waterlilly to come 3rd in the pairs and then once again helped Evie win the young handler class.
The sheep has an excellent day, we didn't take any ewes or ram lambs but had entries for everything else. Ram - 1st and 3rd with the 2 Texel tups. Poor King didn't get anything. The gimmers came 1st and 2nd, fat lambs took 1st, 2nd and 3rd and the ewe lambs came 1st and took champion 🏆
With 6 Native heifers at the show we are hoping next year we will be able to have a Native pedigree section. As usual we had a lovely day with dinner thrown in.

Last week we went down to Royal Norfolk Show 2026, the weather forecast was hot so we washed the cattle down and headed out at 6am so we were travelling whilst it was cool. Cattle were unloaded and settled with their fans on by 10am.
Mr Desmond had lost some weight from Lincolnshire and weighed in at 606kg. He won his class and the judge commented on how well he walks.
The 2 BSH heifers didn't get placed but it was a strong class of 17 and that was only the Jan - April born. We were 2 of the youngest in the class at late March births but they both behaved and Wish helped Evie get a 2nd in the young handler the next day.
Wish also got to meet HRH Princess Anne on Wednesday as she visited the Beef Shorthorns. A late start home on Thursday as we waited till nearer 7pm when the temperature dropped to travel back home. Next trip out is to Winterton Show on Saturday.
