Just finished an overnight petsit with Rusty, a new client who happens to be 13, deaf, and blind.

Senior and sensory-impaired pets often need a little extra care to feel secure — things like slower walks, scent-based enrichment, gentle tactile cues, predictable routines, and close companionship. For Rusty, that meant familiar neighbourhood strolls, a snuffle mat to engage his senses, lots of reassurance, and safe sleep right beside me when he needed comfort.

With thoughtful support, senior pets can still explore, enjoy, and settle beautifully. Their world might look and sound different, but there is so much life, curiosity, and trust there when we meet them where they’re at.

Grey skies, light rain, and zero puddles — just Hudson on a mission to check every piece of peemail in the neighbourhood. 🌧️🐾

We kept it slow, let him get his sniffing done, and headed back before the drizzle turned into anything more serious.

These kinds of walks feel small, but they do a lot: movement, mental enrichment, and a bit of routine on a gloomy day.
