Vancouver's summer heat can turn downtown sidewalks and the seawall into scorching surfaces that can seriously burn your pet's paw pads. Before heading out for that Yaletown walk, press your hand to the pavement for 5 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's definitely too hot for your furry friend's paws.
Protect your pet this summer:
• Walk during cooler morning or evening hours
• Stick to grassy areas when possible
• Consider protective booties for longer walks
• Carry water for both of you
• Watch for signs of overheating: excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy
