✨💡TIP OF THE WEEK💡✨
🌞Summer car 🚗safety for pets
Never ❌ leave your pet unattended in a parked vehicle during the summer🌞. Interior temperatures🌡️ can skyrocket to dangerous ⚠️levels within minutes, even in the shade 🌳with windows cracked. If you must run errands, leave your pet at home 🏡or bring them inside pet friendly 🐾stores.
If you are going out for the day 🚗 it’s a good idea to pack a bag 🎒with fresh water💧 , collapsible bowls 🥣, a leash, waste bags 🗑️. Offer frequent breaks every two hours to offer water and let them stretch their legs🐕.
If you see an animal in distress in a hot 🥵vehicle, act quickly!
1️⃣ Alert 🚨 the management of the nearest business to page the owner immediately.
2️⃣ If the owner cannot ❌ be found or the animal is showing signs of heatstroke (Excessive or exaggerated panting, Heavy drooling with thick sticky saliva, Restlessness, pacing, bright red or pale gums and tongue) contact local authorities📞.
3️⃣ If owner can not be found 👀/contacted 📞and the animal is in life threatening conditions🥵 In Ontario 🇨🇦, you can call the provincial animal 🐾welfare dispatch at 1-833-9-ANIMAL (1-833-926-4625).
