We are getting to know our Foster Dog Maverick even better now that we are able to take him out in public, to our homes, etc.

I think the biggest thing we have learned is that he actually does like playing with other dogs! He used to just exist well around them, but over the last two weeks, he has been playing with them and it is so much fun to see!

Enrichment Looks Different for Every Dog!

Not every dog arrives at Alder Creek ready to jump into playtime, explore new things, or confidently walk into a new environment. Some dogs need a little more time, patience, and support before they feel comfortable.

This is what individualized enrichment looks like.

Today, Alayna is spending time with one of our more shy guests by simply sitting with him, talking to him, offering gentle pets, and letting him set the pace. She is helping him learn that this space is safe, that new people can be trusted, and that good things happen here.

Once he is feeling more comfortable, Alayna will introduce a treat puzzle to give him a chance to use his brain, build confidence, and experience the joy of solving something on his own.

Enrichment isn’t always about the biggest activity or the most exciting game. Sometimes enrichment is a quiet moment on the floor with someone who is willing to wait, listen, and build a relationship.

We are so proud of our team for seeing each dog as an individual and meeting them exactly where they are.
