Wildfire smoke affects pets too!

With wildfire smoke impacting air quality across parts of Ontario, it’s important to remember that our furry family members can be affected just like we can.

Here are a few ways to help keep your pets safe:
🐶 Limit outdoor time, especially if the air quality is poor.
🐱 Keep windows and doors closed when possible.
💨 Use an air purifier if you have one.
💧 Make sure fresh water is always available.
❤️ Watch for signs of smoke irritation, including coughing, difficulty breathing, excessive panting, watery eyes, or unusual tiredness.

Senior pets, puppies and kittens, flat-faced breeds, and pets with heart or respiratory conditions may be more sensitive to poor air quality.

If your pet is showing signs of respiratory distress or you’re concerned about their health, please don’t hesitate to contact our clinic.

Stay safe and give your pets a little extra TLC during smoky days. 🐾❤️

💧 July is Pet Hydration Awareness Month! 🐾

Keeping your pet hydrated is one of the simplest ways to support their overall health—especially during the warmer months! ☀️

Here are a few easy ways to help your furry friend stay hydrated:
🐶 Always provide fresh, clean water.
🐱 Wash and refill water bowls daily.
🧊 Add ice cubes to water for a fun, cooling treat.
🥣 Offer moisture-rich foods when appropriate.
🌳 Bring water along on walks and outdoor adventures.

Watch for signs of dehydration, including excessive panting, dry or sticky gums, lethargy, loss of appetite, or loss of skin elasticity. If you think your pet may be dehydrated, don’t wait—give us a call!

Let’s keep our pets happy, healthy, and hydrated all summer long! 💙🐾
