As temperatures rise, remember that asphalt and concrete can become dangerously hot for your dog’s sensitive paw pads. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

☀️ Test the pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds.
🚶 Walk during cooler morning or evening hours.
🌳 Stick to grassy or shaded areas whenever possible.
💧 Bring water and take frequent breaks.

Signs of paw burns can include limping, licking the feet, redness, blistering, or darkened paw pads.

Help keep your furry family members safe and comfortable this summer. When in doubt, stay off the hot asphalt! ❤️🐶

Teaching the next generation of veterinarians starts long before they step into the operating room. 🩺✨

Today, our veterinary student had the opportunity to practice laparoscopic spay techniques using a creative simulation model made from a bucket and towel, allowing them to develop instrument handling, hand-eye coordination, and camera navigation skills in a low-stress learning environment.

These hands-on training exercises help build confidence and surgical proficiency before performing procedures on patients, ensuring the highest standard of care for the animals we serve!
