Taffy - Adoptable

At just over 7 pounds, Taffy may be tiny in size, but she's bursting with personality. This 3-year-old Chihuahua came into care after having a litter of puppies and needing a little TLC to regain her strength and health. Along her journey, she's shown just how bright, resilient, and affectionate she truly is.

When she first arrived, Taffy had some significant dental issues and needed multiple extractions. Some roots of her baby teeth remain wrapped around others, but her vet expects they'll absorb naturally with time. She'll simply need annual dental check-ups to keep that sweet smile shining - and possibly a future procedure if those roots don't resolve on their own.

Taffy was also found to have a mild (3/6) heart murmur. It doesn't slow her down one bit, and no treatment is needed at this time - just routine monitoring during her yearly vet visits.

Health notes aside, Taffy is an absolute delight! She's affectionate, clever, and adores spending time with her people. She can be a bit anxious in busy or noisy settings, so she'll thrive best in a quieter, calmer home where she can feel safe and loved. Taffy enjoys the company of other calm dogs and can coexist with cats, though she might try to be the boss from time to time.

She travels well in the car, is nearly housetrained, and learns quickly with patience and consistency - her foster swears she actually understands what you're saying!

Leash walks are one of her favorite activities, and she never misses a chance for a good roll in the grass (just for fun, of course!). Because she can be a bit vocal, apartment living isn't ideal, and given her petite size and sp*ed, a securely fenced yard would be perfect for her safety.

Taffy is now ready to find a forever home that will cherish her gentle heart, celebrate her quirky personality, and give her the calm, loving life she deserves.

🐕Have had regular vaccinations and care, both are still intact
🐾Crate trained, and p*e pad trained
🤍Love to be held - what chihuahua doesn’t?
🤩Bold, lively littlefellows!
🐶Can be a bit grumpy with each other and other dogs
🐱No experience with cats, though we think they’d love to chase
🩵Dusty, on the left, has glaucoma and is on daily eye drops for this
💙Rusty, on the right, needs dental work. Elder Dog will look after this once he is placed and settled
❤️Their companion is unable to care for them any longer so finding a home, or homes, is a priority
📍Located in SW Nova Scotia, near Clare, so transport could be arranged!

Over 30 years in, and I’m still learning from dogs every day.🐾😍
