In Loving Memory of Reverend Barbara Minard (1925–2025)

Dear Friends of Mahone Bay,

Our town has felt quieter in the wake of Reverend Barbara Minard’s passing—a reflection of the gentle grace she brought to every life she touched.
Although we are unable to attend her funeral today, our thoughts and hearts are with all those gathering in her memory.
We would like to offer this upcoming gathering as a heartfelt continuation of honouring Barbara’s legacy—an opportunity to come together, share stories, and celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives and our community.

We at Ditto’s Canine Learning Centre warmly invite you to join us in remembering Barbara’s remarkable journey and her deep love for dogs—including her most recent rescue companion, Juno, adopted through ElderDog Canada.🐾❤

Over the years, Barbara welcomed many four-legged friends into her life, each one cherished, each one a reflection of her compassionate spirit.
As we celebrate her legacy, we’ll be collecting donations in her name for ElderDog Canada—continuing the cycle of love and care she championed so deeply.

With Barbara’s spirit guiding us, we hope to turn our collective grief into a gesture of kindness that honours both her and the animals she cherished.
Please join us for a social gathering filled with connection, reflection, and refreshments.

📍 Location: Mahone Bay Centre – Ditto’s Canine Learning Centre, Room 202.

🐾 Dogs are welcomed. We kindly ask that attending dogs are calm, well-socialized, and happy being around other pups.

‼️**Bonded pair*** must go together‼️
PEACHES & EMMETT - meet this adorable duo!🥰 Peaches & Emmett were surrendered to the shelter as their owner is no longer able to care for them. The male, Emmett, is three years old and the female, Peaches, is two years old.
These little Boston Terriers are absolutely adorable! They are goofy and love people.
They are currently looking for a loving home!

With the heat of the summer in full swing we want to remind you to keep an eye out for a very common emergency that can be life threatening - heat stroke!

📣 KNOW THE SIGNS & PREVENTION

🌡️ Signs of Heat Stroke in Dogs:

Heavy panting

Dark red or pale gums

Excessive drooling

Vomiting or diarrhea

Collapse or confusion

Unsteady on legs

Lethargy or extreme tiredness

🚫 Prevent Heat Stroke:

Never leave pets in a parked car

Always provide shade and fresh water

Limit outdoor activity on hot days

Walk dogs early morning or late evening

Use extra caution with brachycephalic breeds (pugs, bulldogs, boxers etc.)

Use caution if access to salt water and limit salt water intake

🔥If you think your dog is overheating try:

Moving the dog into a cool area

Apply cool towels to paw pads, head, neck and chest

Give small amounts of cool water

Seek veterinary care

‼️ Know the signs and act fast!
