The weird marketing girl has officially been at NPC for 10 years! Here are some throwbacks from my camera roll in 2016 when I first started as a co-op student 👶 I truly love working in veterinary medicine… And if you’ve been through NPC in the last ten years (whether as a team member or trusting us with your pet’s care) you’re part of the reason why 💚 Sincerely, DH 🥰

Sweet Sadie just turned 13 on Saturday! This good girl seemed perfectly healthy when she visited us for her annual wellness blood work, but her results told a different story.⁣

Her liver values came back elevated.🩸📈

But fortunately, early detection means more treatment options for Sadie!

Now, her mom can stay on top of her condition going forward to help her thrive in her senior years... While the birthday girl simply focuses on enjoying each beach day and car ride by her mama's side😉🎉

Sunningdale construction... Or Cat TV? 🤔🥰 Naomi happily admired the view during her annual checkup!⁣

Did you know... Cats will purposely conceal signs of illness from their owners? This is due to a deeply ingrained, evolutionary instinct.⁣
🤒To a cat, illness is a sign of weakness.⁣
🎯In the wild, visible weakness makes them a target for predators.⁣⁣⁣
❤️‍🩹 So ironically, concealing illness = survival.⁣

On top of that, Naomi's breed is genetically predisposed to heart disease. So, Naomi's mom chose to do blood work at Naomi's exam to evaluate her cardiac function and overall health💔🩺⁣

The results are in... And we're happy to report that so far, Naomi is healthy and well! This gorgeous girl is only 2, so we will continue to monitor her throughout her lifetime with regular vet visits.⁣
⁣⁣
Naomi's mom knows that Naomi will probably not tell her when she's feeling unwell in the future. But catching any signs of illness early will give her more manageable treatment options, to help ensure that she can continue to give her the happy, comfortable kitty life that a princess like Naomi deserves! 🐾👑

What is pyometra? Swipe to see➡️👀 (Caution: Graphic images)⁣

Pyometra is a life-threatening infection of the uterus.⁣
🤒 This infection causes extreme sickness and discomfort.⁣
🦠 The uterus expands as it fills with pus – rupture will spill all this infection into the abdominal cavity. This is fatal.⁣
🚨Treatment typically requires emergency surgery.⁣

So how can you protect your dog or cat against pyometra? Prevention is simple! ⁣

Talk to your veterinarian about the best time to spay your little one! ❤️‍🩹🩹⁣

Take Ivy for instance! This sweet little gal visited our Sunningdale location for her spay around 6 months of age, after a conversation with her veterinarian considering her breed and lifestyle. Unlike pyometra surgery, her spay surgery was quick, cost-effective, and her recovery was fast... Maybe *too* fast if you ask her mom 😅⁣

Ivy is already back to her happy, bouncy self and ready for a long, healthy life ahead!⁣

Having a reproductive health plan is an important part of every dog or cat's preventative care. If you have a female pet, don't delay. Reach out to your vet to start the conversation today💚⁣☎️

Adorable 🥹 We'll take one of each, please!

Youngsters Minnie and Rufus certainly get spoiled during their visits... With no shortage of snuggles, churu, and catnip each time! (Plus each other for moral support, of course)🤭🐾

We hope to make each kitten exam a positive one as they grow up, so that they continue to feel brave and confident at the vet for life 💚
