🐾 Tick season is here—know what you’re finding!

The eTick app is a free, easy-to-use tool that helps you identify ticks and report sightings in your area. Your reports support researchers and public health teams tracking tick populations and disease risk.

📲 How to use eTick
1. Download the app
Search “eTick” in the App Store or Google Play and install it.

2. Create an account (optional)
You can submit reports as a guest, but creating an account lets you track your submissions and get updates.

3. Take a clear photo of the tick
Place the tick on a plain background
Get close, in good lighting
Include multiple angles if possible
This helps improve identification accuracy.

4. Start a report
Tap “Report a Tick” and enter:
Location (auto GPS or manual)
Date found
Host (human, dog, cat, etc.)
Attachment status (attached vs crawling)

5. Upload your photo
Attach the image(s) you took.

6. Submit your report
Experts will review it and provide species identification and relevant info.

7. Check your results
You’ll receive feedback—often including whether it’s a species like Ixodes scapularis (a key vector for Lyme disease).

8. Explore maps & stay informed

Use the app to:
View tick activity in your area
Learn about tick-borne diseases
Stay updated on local risk levels

🐶 Why it matters
Helps protect pets and people
Contributes to real-time surveillance
Improves awareness of emerging tick risks

Every tick report adds valuable data. If you find one—report it, don’t ignore it.

Our sincerest condolences to the family, friends, clients and patients of a dear veterinary colleague who died by su***de last week. Though we did not know this vet personally (from a different province), our professional community is close and this impacts us all.

Please remember to be kind to your veterinarian and veterinary staff always. We are ALWAYS here to help. Caring for pets is what we do best but as veterinarians, we cannot control medical outcome and sometimes things do not go in the right direction. We are always open and honest about our professional opinions of patient care and work together with clients to find the most appropriate plan for each patient.

To anyone struggling, inside or outside of the veterinary community, remember: you are never alone. Reach out for support; inform people if you are struggling and remember that life is still beautiful, even when it gets messy.

Dial 988 anytime if needing assistance. Suicide-prevention hotline is available 24/7/365.

Please share this message to encourage support for those struggling.

It's a FUN, FURRY, FRIDAY with this guy....Mr. Angus.
Such a sweet boy and super handsome!
We always love when he visits. He should honestly be in a shampoo commercial - one of the most brilliantly healthy haircoats I've seen yet.

Did you know that Dr. Orsini offers BOTH conventional and integrative medicine. She is western-trained (as all vets are) and graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2014. She has always had a passion for alternative therapies as they have changed her life, personally so she advocates for them in veterinary medicine as well. Through many years of extra studying and certifications, she offers a comprehensive approach to each treatment plan BUT the she knows that the BEST medicine is the medicine the her clients are interested in and what they believe in. Therefore, she tailors her medicine according to client desire and patient needs. Talk about flexible! She is here to cater to you and your pets, full-time!
