Thank you for your patience with us today! Rogers had an outage that affected our clinic all day, reducing our ability to access the internet and phones.

They are working hard to get us back up online but for tonight, we've crashed 🤣

Did you know: in order to become a veterinarian it takes years of education to understand your furbabies and the delicacy of the care they require.

As a DVM, one of the best things you can do is mentor future vets.

We currently have a few University of Guelph students volunteering with with us, working on gaining hands-on experience in clinic to help fine tune their understanding of veterinary medicine.

Being able to shadow appointments, diagnostics and surgeries allows for veterinary students to ask questions, physically see things and understand better than any book could ever teach!

In this photo, Dr. Stella is completing a neuter and our U of G student is shadowing the surgery. Seeing the anatomy of the patient, how the RVTs monitor the patient, and understanding the steps taken to ensure a safe and successful anesthetic for your patient makes a world of a difference!

Sixth Nation is the largest first nation reserve in Canada. Located apx one hour from Georgetown, veterinary care is limited.

Fortunately, the community built a trusting relationship with a local veterinarian who has been able to bring care into the community.

Some pets spend a large portion of time outdoors. Some are community dogs. Many homes have cats and dogs.

Ticks are excessive.
Disease is real.
All are loved.

Mobile clinics make a huge difference. They run entirely off volunteers and donations. Every pet that comes in gets a full exam, vaccinations, 4dx testing, microchip, and flea, heartworm and tick prevention.
Later in the year, a spay/neutered clinic is hosted by the same volunteers.

Both clinics are so important!
Less intact dogs and cats means population control.
More preventive medicine means less disease.

Last year an extremely high number of dogs visiting the clinics tested positive for heartworm disease.
This past weekend, almost 300 dogs were seen and only a handful were heartworm positive. That is because now a large portion of dogs are on prevention.

***visit our stories to see heartworm on a microscope***

Dr. Stella (DVM) & Nancy (PM) frequently visit these clinics. It's an honour to be able to help!
