Help us wish our summer student volunteers all the best as she heads back to school!
🐾 Gurnaz, you’ve been a shining star,
Caring for patients, both near and far.
From wagging tails to tiny paws,
You’ve helped with kindness, never a pause.

Now back to grade 12 you must go,
With books to read and much to know.
University waits, your dreams in sight,
A future veterinarian, your path is bright.

We’ll miss your laughter, your gentle way,
But know you’ll be back with us one day.
White coat ready, stethoscope too,
The animals can’t wait to be cared for by you.

So farewell for now, but not goodbye,
Spread your wings, let your spirit fly.
We’re proud of you, remember this tune,
The clinic doors will welcome you soon. 🐾

🌊🐾 Beach & Water Safety for Dogs 🐾🌊

Sunny days + splashing waves = the best summer memories 🐶💕
…but let’s keep our pups safe around water:

✅ Fresh Water Only – Bring drinking water. Saltwater, freshwater & stagnant water can make dogs sick.
✅ Supervise Swimming – Not all pups are strong swimmers.
✅ Life Jackets – Great for seniors, small dogs, or less confident swimmers.
✅ Watch for Water Toxicity – Dogs that gulp too much while swimming or fetching can develop water intoxication (signs: lethargy, vomiting, bloating, wobbliness, seizures). 🚨 Vet care right away!
✅ Beware Algae Blooms – Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) are toxic and often fatal if licked or swallowed. Keep dogs out of water that looks green, foamy, or has scum/mats on the surface.
✅ Rinse Off After Play – Salt, sand, and algae can irritate skin and paws.
✅ Rest & Shade – Hot sand + hot sun = risk of heatstroke.

🔥 Electrical Fire Safety Reminder 🔌🐍

Woke up this morning to my snake tank lamp in flames. Luckily, the fire was contained quickly, but it could have been so much worse.

A few takeaways for fellow reptile owners and anyone using heat lamps:
💡 Always use lamps and bulbs rated for your fixture.
🔥 Keep them away from flammable materials.
🔌 Regularly check cords for wear, cracks, or heat damage.
⚡️ Never overload power bars or extension cords.
🔌 Turn off and unplug equipment when not needed, especially overnight.

A huge thank you to the Brampton Fire Department 🚒 for responding so quickly and making sure everyone (human, furry, feathered and scaly) is safe. You’re true heroes.

Stay safe, check your equipment, and give your smoke alarms a test today, they save lives. ❤️

When you find yourself surrounded by the best trainers, handlers, and German Shepherds in Ontario… and then realize Ontario came, crushed, and swept the podium 🧹🏆

Top three spots? All ours. 🇨🇦 And now, those same handlers and dogs are Team Canada. Honoured (and a little starstruck) to stand with this league of talent — and even more special to witness our master trainer and his student competing side-by-side on the same field.

Next stop: Slovenia in 7 weeks — watch out, world, the Canadians are coming. ✈️🔥🐕
