Is your pet Microchipped?

Microchips are a small implant that stores your contact information and your pets information all in one place. This chip can be scanned at a veterinary clinic or animal shelter in the even your pet gets lost. Even if your pet is an "indoor only cat" its still recommend to have a chip in place in the event they escape (accidents happen).

According to the AVMA, pets with microchips are up to 20 times more likely to be reunited with their owners if they become lost. For cats, the likelihood increases by an astonishing 38 percent. Without proper identification, lost pets often end up in shelters, where the chances of being reunited with their families significantly decrease.

We would love to highlight an amazing program run by the city of Edmonton! The Don't Skip the Chip program, where every pet licence includes a microchip!

Your pets aren’t the only ones enjoying the warm weather!

As temperatures rise in Alberta, fleas and ticks become more active. Parasite prevention helps protect your pets from itchy bites, skin infections, and horrible diseases that can be spread from fleas and ticks, keeping your pets comfortable and ready for every outdoor adventure!

🌼 Options for flea and tick prevention can come in topical solutions and chewable treat tablets!

🌼 Flea and Tick prevention also covers Lice and sometimes internal parasites like worms!

🌼 Most prevention is given monthly, but there are some longer lasting products that can protect against parasites for up to 12 weeks!

🌼 If you're planning on traveling out of province with your pets, different parasite prevention may be required, like heartworm prevention!

🌼 Ticks can be active as soon as temperatures are above 2°C! Make sure you are starting your prevention on time and continuing until the first freeze!

Have questions about finding the right product for your pets? Give us a call any time to discuss parasite prevention!

Just wanting to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there including grandmas, step moms, aunties, and fur moms. I would like to especially thank all of my moms at the clinic for spoiling me with treats, pets (especially bum smacks), and carrying me wherever I want to go.

Enjoy your day!!
