*URGENT NEED for donations of dry and wet cat and dog food *

Calling all animal lovers in our community! Right now, there are beloved pets going to sleep with empty bowls, and the families who love them are doing everything they can to make ends meet. Through our Pet Food Bank Program, we help make sure no pet is left behind simply because times are tough… but we can’t do it without you.

We are urgently looking for donations of dry and wet cat and dog food to help support hungry pets in the community. Every bag or can you give goes directly toward feeding hungry animals, helping families keep their cherished companions fed, comforted, and at home where they belong.

Your kindness reaches far beyond one animal.

These donations support:

• Local pet food bank events
• Community partners like food banks
• Supportive housing programs
• Family and women’s Centres

HOW?
Option 1: Drop off pet food at the 481 Trans-Canada Hwy #103, Duncan, Noon to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday during business hours

Option 2: Shop our online wishlist and have donations sent directly to us: https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/3TYOFLWELW741?ref_=wl_share

Any brand, any amount, it all matters more than you know.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing compassion to the most vulnerable pets. Because of you, tails will keep wagging, purrs will keep humming, and families can stay together through difficult times.

Did you know lameness is a top welfare concern for beef cattle in Canada? Lameness is a painful condition affecting the leg or hoof. It also makes it harder for cattle to escape predators, and access food and water.

Despite this, the draft Beef Code does not include specific requirements to prevent lameness or keep lameness levels below a set target.

This is your chance to speak up for a stronger Code that includes clear expectations and sets
targets to ensure lameness is addressed on beef cattle farms.

Clear, respectful and original comments can shape a better future for beef cattle in Canada. You
have until June 12th to submit your comments to NFACC.

ATTN: In time for National Microchipping Month, the BC SPCA’s Pet Registry launches a new program offering pet rescues and shelters subsidized microchips to help more pets find a safe path back home. If you work for a pet rescue organization, learn more and apply today at: https://bcpetregistry.ca/subsidized-pet-microchip-program/

NOTE: While we want to support as many animals as possible, program funding is limited. Subsidies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Would you like to improve the lives of animals today? For the first time since 2013, Canada’s Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle is being updated, and you have the opportunity to shape it.

In Canada, more than 11.9 million cattle are raised for beef production every year. Right now, they need your voice. The draft Code is now open for comment until June 12th, 2026. This is your moment to review the draft Code and share your feedback before it is finalized.

We've put together all the resources you'll need. Each voice added will help to make an impact and help change the minimum care requirements for beef cattle in Canada.

NEWS: Thanks to thousands of British Columbians raising their voices, all exotic cats will be banned as pets in B.C.! As of May 1, 2026, they can no longer be bred or transported into the province. Existing exotic cats, and hybrids up to four generations, will also have to be permitted under specific conditions, such as no display or public contact.

For seven years, compassionate animal lovers like you have spoken out against the suffering of exotic cats being kept in captivity as pets. Now, Minister Randene Neill has taken action by adding all exotic cats to the Controlled Alien Species Regulation of the Wildlife Act. This is certainly a moment to celebrate.

While this announcement is a huge step forward, it is only the beginning. For meaningful change, the ban must be fully implemented, and existing exotic cats currently kept as pets must be properly regulated.

ADD YOUR NAME to thank Minister Neill for moving this change forward and show her that making this ban a reality over the coming year is important to you.

Your support of this change will help bring an end to suffering for exotic cats in our province!
