Some dogs come into your life for a season, and some leave paw prints on your heart forever. Today, our hearts are heavy as I share that sweet Athena crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. 💔🌈🐾

I have been sitting here thinking about all the little things I will miss. The way her face would light up when I walked through the door and she realized it was me. The way she would gently nudge her head under my arm, asking for scratches and affection. The comfort of her presence, her sweet soul, and the special bond we built over the past year and a half.

As a pet sitter, we are entrusted with caring for beloved family members, but every once in a while a pet becomes so much more than a client. Athena became a friend. She welcomed me into her world, trusted me, and gave me the gift of her companionship. I feel incredibly lucky to have spent time with her during her golden years.

My heart breaks for her mom. There is never enough time with the ones we love, and saying goodbye is one of the hardest things we ever have to do. I hope they can find comfort in knowing how deeply loved she was and how many beautiful memories she leaves behind.

Thank you, Athena, for every tail wag, every head bump, every cuddle, and every smile. You were such a special girl, and we will miss you more than words can say.
