Hey guys!

Can you please vote for a charity that could use this donation of $250 from Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid. I know my vote is going to as they are a wonderful organisation helping people and pets in and surrounding areas.

Happy New Year!

Rakell, Frieda & Sunny

For the 10th consecutive year Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid did not send our Instructors Christmas cards. Why? We want to spread cheer where it is most needed in the pet community, and our instructors are selfless and kind.

As you know, we run a holiday charity drive each year. We encourage you to learn more about the rescues we feature and to make a donation to them if you are able.

This year, as shelters and rescues are filled to the brim, more than ever, we know these funds are desperately needed.

That's why, 1 of the 13 pet charities featured will also receive a $250 CASH donation from Walks 'N' Wags. We wish we could give more, but this $250 will certainly go to great use helping animals in need.

Below is how you can help us select the charity to receive the donation.

RULES:
1. Research each of the 13 charities we've included in Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid's 14th annual Holiday Charity Drive. You'll find them each featured on our page over the past 2 weeks.

2. Comment on this post on which of the 13 charities you think should receive the $250. Be very specific with your vote as some of the charities have similar names. You can also comment on the same post on Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid Instagram account.

3. Vote for as few or as many of the charities as you wish. However, we will only count 1 vote per person per charity on each account (ie. don't vote for the same charity more than once).

4. The charity with the most votes as of 11:00 pm PST January 1, 2026 wins the $250! We'll announce the winner on Facebook and Instagram on January 2, 2026.

5. This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by nor associated with Facebook nor Instagram.

Please spread the word and get those votes in for your favorite charities! We can't wait to make this donation! ❤️

For anyone who uses an air-tag on their dog or cat good information. I personally like Tractive in Canada, and I have good things about Garmin and Dogtra trackers.

As most of you know, I search for missing pets with thermal drones (Thermal image of our Huskies attached), and I see this constantly: AirTags are not for dogs. While they are surely better than nothing, they only use short-range Bluetooth, which usually reaches 5–100 feet. For an AirTag to ping, your dog has to pass very close to someone with an iPhone or iPad that has Bluetooth, location services, and internet enabled. Most lost dogs avoid people, move fast, and travel through areas with no nearby phones, which means the AirTag never or rarely updates.

In nearly every case I’ve worked where a dog was wearing an AirTag, it stopped pinging the moment the dog went missing. While some have pinged again, they are sporadic, at best.

If you want real protection, you need a GPS/cellular tracking collar. These use satellites and cell towers to give true real-time locations, live maps, speed and direction updates, and reliable tracking even when your dog is far from people. This is critical for fast-moving breeds like our Huskies.

The most reliable options are Fi, Tractive, and Dogtra. We use one of these brands for our Huskies.

If your dog ever gets loose, a GPS/cellular collar gives you an actual chance to find them. An AirTag almost certainly won’t. If you know someone using an AirTag on their pet's collar, please let them know this info!

Lest We Forget. Today we remember those who have served and are past, those who continue to serve and all the familys that have sacrificed being with their loved ones. My sincerest love, prayers and hope go out to those we honour today and everyday.

On this Veterans Day, we honor not only the brave men and women who served… but also the loyal paws who stood beside them. 🐾🇺🇸
From the horses who carried hope, to the dogs who sniffed out danger, to the pigeons who delivered messages through gunfire — their courage saved countless lives.
They may not wear medals, but they earned something greater: eternal gratitude

I fully believe in titre testing over boosters every year to 3 years. We are in a health crisis with out animals. The occurrence of cancer used be almost unheard of and now its 1 in every 3 Canines get some kind of cancer in their lifetime. This is heartbreaking. We Can make a difference by asking for titre testing. I hope the veterinary associations in Canada can figure out how to lower the cost of titre testing. In the US its about $150 to $200, here its about $500. I Will be titring Frieda in November.
