πŸΎπŸ’• Triple the patients, triple the cuddles, triple the cuteness! πŸ’•πŸΎ

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Peggy, Pepper and Pat the Cat to the clinic! 🐢🐢🐱

All three family members came in together for their routine desexing procedures and we are happy to report they were absolute superstars! βπŸ‘

While they were all incredibly brave, they were also equally committed to their role as professional sooks, making sure our nurses received plenty of cuddles, pats and sympathy throughout the day. πŸ₯°πŸ˜‚

Everyone recovered beautifully and are now home for some well-earned rest, treats and extra TLC from their family. πŸ’•πŸ‘

We hope you're all feeling back to your cheeky selves very soon, Peggy, Pepper and Pat! πŸΎπŸ’™

😊 5 Minutes with Practice Manager Danni 😊

1. If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be and why? πŸΎπŸ†

Definitely a leopard πŸ†βœ¨. They're largely solitary, so there's no need for awkward small talk πŸ˜…, they spend plenty of time lounging around in trees πŸŒ³πŸ’€, and they sit pretty high on the food chain with very few predators of their own. Sounds like the perfect combination of peace, quiet and naps! πŸ˜‚

2. What's the most unusual or memorable case you've ever seen? πŸ€”πŸ©Ί

One that has always stuck with me was a little Kelpie pup πŸ•β€οΈ who came into the clinic extremely lethargic, not eating or drinking, and with gums that were ghost white πŸ‘». After investigating, we discovered he had a massive hookworm infestation that had caused severe anaemia.

He needed intensive treatment as well as a blood transfusion 🩸. My own dog became his donor and little lifesaver πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸΆβ€οΈ. Seeing him come back for his recheck a few weeks later, bright, playful, cheeky and full of energy, was incredibly rewarding. It's cases like these that remind you why you do what you do. πŸ₯°πŸΎ

3. Do you have any pets? Tell us about them! 🐢🐱🐴

Two cats: 🐱🐱

🐾 Wrangler (14-year-old DSH) – adopted from the RSPCA at just 8 weeks old. He's been my sidekick through countless moves and adventures, travelling around the country with me over the years. ❀️

🐾 Madison Olive Fluffytail (2-year-old DMH) – Olive was found wandering around the Westy's Pizza car park πŸ•πŸ˜Ί and brought into the clinic. I was only taking her home for one night... I swear! 🀣❀️

Two dogs: 🐢🐢

🐾 Dodge (13 years old) – my loyal old gentleman. He's travelled from QLD to NSW and back again with us and is now thoroughly enjoying retirement life with plenty of naps and snacks. πŸ’€πŸ₯°

🐾 Chilli 🌢️ (9 months old) – the newest addition to the family. She was the last puppy left from a litter that came into the clinic for vaccinations. I fell in love instantly 😍, and when she was old enough, she came home with us.

And of course, the horses! 🐴🐴✨

We have multiple horses, but my two main ponies are:

🐴 Groot – a 3-year-old Quarter Horse c**t. He's extra special because we bred him, raised him, started him under saddle and I'm now training him myself. He's my first horse I've taken through the entire process from birth to competition horse, and we're aiming for the Reined Cow Horse Futurity in 2027! 🀠πŸ”₯

🐴 Bayb – a 5-year-old Quarter Horse mare. She was started and trained in cutting by my husband and shown by him at the NCHA Cutting Futurity in 2024. I'm now transitioning her into reined cow horse, and she's teaching me just as much as I'm teaching her! πŸ’•βœ¨

4. What made you want to work in the veterinary industry? 🩺🐾

I've always loved animals and have been passionate about their care and wellbeing ❀️. From a young age I was fascinated by animal health, particularly wound management and nursing care.

Alongside veterinary nursing and practice management, my husband and I have worked on horse studs where we were responsible for treatment protocols, reproduction and AI, breeding programs, foaling, neonatal care and general stud management. 🐴🍼✨

Being able to help animals and support their owners through both the happy and challenging times is what makes this industry so rewarding. ❀️

5. What's your guilty pleasure outside of work? 🐴🀠

Honestly... it's still animals! πŸ˜‚πŸΎ

My husband and I run horsemanship, ranch and cattle clinics on weekends, as well as private lessons. Our son is heavily involved with horses too, so it's truly a family affair. ❀️

Whether we're training horses, attending shows and clinics, helping students achieve their goals, or simply hanging out at the barn together, there's nowhere else we'd rather be. 🐴✨🀠❀️

6. And the most important question of all time... Pineapple on pizza? πŸ•πŸ

ABSOLUTELY YES!! πŸ™ŒπŸπŸ•

Pineapple belongs on pizza, and while we're at it, on burgers too! πŸ”πŸπŸ”₯

Sweet + savoury = perfection. πŸ’―βœ¨

😊 5 minutes with Nurse Schelly 😊

1. If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be and why? 🐾

I would like to be an otter 🦦 in the Scottish wilds ( in summer) just enjoying the surrounding scenery and the seafood 🦞🦐

2. What's the most unusual or memorable case you've ever seen? πŸ€”

There are lots but one I remember not that long ago was a little terrier type dog with a piece of horses hoof jammed between his teeth across the roof of his mouth. It had been there for a while and had rubbed through the roof of his mouth. He was brought in for smelly breath. The hoof piece was removed under a general anaesthetic and he recovered well 🩹

3. Do you have any pets? Tell us about them 🐢🐱

I have lots of pets. We have 6 dogs 🐢 Five Jack Russell who are very very spoilt and come with us everywhere on the farm and live a life of luxury. We have Poppit,Nutmeg,Jo Jo, Lillie and Rosie. Our 6th dog is our livestock guardian for our poultry. His name is Dumpling and he is a big goofy softy who is just a very special soul.

We have horses 🐴 that we play polocrosse on and our very special ones are Pumba, Graffiti, Ziggy, Willow and Nina. They are the most beautiful girls/ boys that keep us sane and broke.

My beautiful soul animal I guess though is Rupert my beautiful donkey 🫏 He was my 50th birthday present and is the most gentle, kind soul who just seems to know when you need some love (he could definitely be a therapy donkey)

4. What made you want to work in the veterinary industry? 🩺

I actually fell into the veterinary industry by accident. I was trained in the human health industry but had always been involved in some form of animal health as we lived on western properties along way from town. When I moved to the Darling Downs I went to get my cat it's vaccination and walked out with a job, I realised how much I loved the work as always something different and helping animals is a real joy. ❀️

5. What's your guilty pleasure outside of work? πŸ“šπŸ“Ί

My guilty pleasure is definitely playing polocrosse but also my garden 🌿🐝

6. And the most important question of all time - pineapple on pizza.... Yes or No? πŸ•πŸ

Definitely pineapple on pizza. That salty with sweet taste is the best πŸ˜‹

😊 5 minutes with Dr Jake 😊

1. If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be and why? 🐾

Some kind of falcon, πŸ¦… fast flying with few natural predators.

2. What's the most unusual or memorable case you've ever seen? πŸ€”

A small Maltese cross for a second puppy vaccination. A bit quiet for a puppy, but didn't look out of the ordinary until I looked at his gum colour - Bone White! A quick faecal smear proved it to be hookworm, he was rushed to emergency and needed two blood transfusions! πŸ’‰ last I heard he was doing well, much more active and puppy like 🐢 Worm your dog's!!

3. Do you have any pets? Tell us about them 🐢🐱

Ravi πŸ• - chocolate border Collie, lazy boy who loves to kiss. Will eat entire leaves of bread if you dare to leave it unattended on the counter

Melody 🐢 - Merle border Collie, Ball-addict, sweetheart who will steal and cuddle your socks.

Tortellini πŸˆβ€β¬› - tuxedo cat, thinks he is a border Collie, rescue from UQ Gatton, super lovely boy.

4. What made you want to work in the veterinary industry? 🩺

Always been fond of animals, and I think after my family dogs growing up, passed away from complex diseases or things I couldn't understand, it made me want to know how and why, what I or others could do next time. There was always something I wanted to know more about, so despite the challenge, I worked hard to get there. πŸ₯³

5. What's your guilty pleasure outside of work? πŸ“šπŸ“Ί

Magic : the gathering cards, video games, swimming, role playing Disney villains with my kids. πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈ

6. And the most important question of all time - pineapple on pizza.... Yes or No? πŸ•πŸ

Yes! Delicious, but I don't normally eat it since my kids like it more than me, so I pass it to them ❀️

❀️ 5 minutes with Dr Dani ❀️

1. If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be and why? 🐾

A cat, 🐱 specifically my own spoilt kitties β€”mastering the art of naps and finding the coziest spots to recharge.

2. What's the most unusual or memorable case you've ever seen? πŸ€”

I once removed a fish hook πŸͺ that had lodged underneath a cats tongue.

3. Do you have any pets? Tell us about them 🐢🐱

Hubble, AKA HubCat - my little feral kitten turned smoocher who was found on the highway after (we suspect) falling out of an engine, hence the name HubCat. 🐈

Luna - my rescue from my early vet school days. My trusty guinea pig for my university practical exams is now enjoying life as an elderly woman. 😺

Leo - My 3-legged kitty that was rescued at a previous workplace after he broke his leg. 🐈

Oakley - my little spoodle who is convinced she is a human baby. πŸ•

Savvy - my sassy thoroughbred who is now enjoying an early retirement following a leg injury. 🐎

Mimir - a super friendlh albino Darwin python. 🐍

4. What made you want to work in the veterinary industry? 🩺

After losing my childhood cat in a traumatic way, I decided to focus my interest in medicine on saving others from similar experiences πŸ’”

5. What's your guilty pleasure outside of work? πŸ“šπŸ“Ί

A good Netflix binge while hiding my snacks 🍫 from my toddler.

6. And the most important question of all time - pineapple on pizza.... Yes or No? πŸ•πŸ

πŸ’―% yes - Hawaiian all the way! Pizza🍍
