🌟 Foaling Season Has Arrived! 🌟

As we welcome the start of the breeding season, it’s the perfect time to ensure your mares are well-prepared for a safe and healthy delivery. 🐴💕

Is your mare ready?
✅ Do you know your mares due date?
✅ Does your mare have a caslick?
✅ Is your mare up to date with necessary vaccinations?

It's important to monitor your mare closely, especially as she nears her expected foaling date. Having a clean, safe, and quiet environment ready — plus a plan for when to call your vet — can make all the difference.

Once the foal is on the ground, don't forget the critical early checks:
🍼 Has the placenta passed completely from the mare?
🍼 Has the foal passed its meconium (first manure)?
🍼 Did the foal receive adequate colostrum? We recommend an IGG blood test to ensure your foal has received adequate immunity from colostrum.
🍼 Is the foal bright, active, and nursing well?

🕐 Foal should be standing within 1 hour, nursing within 2 hours and the mare should have passed her placenta within 3 hours.

Last month, our incredible team members Dr Jordana, Dr Jane, and nurse Tayla attended the 45th Bain Fallon Memorial Lectures on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. 🌞👩‍⚕️

As the largest equine veterinary continuing education event in the southern hemisphere, this conference stands as a cornerstone of the Australian equine veterinary community — advancing clinical expertise while offering a valuable opportunity to share real-world experiences and strengthen the bonds within our incredible industry. This year’s program delivered invaluable insights into cardiology, reproduction, and dentistry, three critical areas of equine care. 💖🩺🦷

Events like Bain Fallon allow our team to bring back the latest knowledge, techniques, and innovations and we are proud to support continued professional development and ensure our team stays at the forefront of veterinary knowledge so we can continue delivering the best possible care to your horses.
