Foaling season is underway and we are starting to see a few new arrivals — hopefully some future champions among them! 🐴✨

Some timely reminders for when foals are born:
⏱️ Foals should be standing within 1 hour
⏱️Foal should be nursing within 2 hours
⏱️Placenta should be passed by the mare within 3 hours

When foals are unable to stand and nurse they often miss out on vital colostrum within the first 24hrs of life. Colostrum provides the essential antibodies that help protect newborn foals while their immune system is developing.

Don’t hesitate to seek veterinary advice if something doesn’t seem right 💫

Two weeks ago, our veterinarians, Dr John Barnwell, Dr Casey Vorbach and Dr Jordana Hill, attended the 46th Bain Fallon Memorial Lectures in Melbourne 🩺

As the Southern Hemisphere’s largest equine veterinary conference continuing education, Bain Fallon brings together equine veterinarians from across Australia to expand their knowledge, share experiences and discuss the latest developments in equine medicine.

This year’s program covered key topics including Sports Medicine, Lameness, Endocrinology and Surgery and included practical workshops and research presentations from veterinarians across the country 🐎

Continuing education is an important part of delivering the highest standard of care. By attending events like Bain Fallon, our team stays up to date with the latest research and advances in equine veterinary medicine, allowing us to bring that knowledge back to benefit our clients and their horses🐴 📚

⭐️GASTROSCOPE DAY⭐️
Our next scope day will be held on the 15th July 2026.

📌 Location: 31 Luck Rd, Hodgsonvale
📌 Cost: $100.00 (GST included) per horse inc. sedation. Payment due on the day.
📞 Bookings essential – Please call our clinic reception on 07 4630 9983.

As always, we will have our specialist Andrew Grant from Randlab to help perform and diagnose our scans. Gastric scoping is a tool used to see the lining of the horses stomach, especially to check for ulcers.

Signs to look for:
1. Poor performance
2. Weight loss/ poor appetite
3. Girthiness
4. Behavioural changes
5. Poor coat condition

‼️ REMINDER ‼️
For the most accurate results, horses must be fasted for a minimum of 12 hours before their gastroscope. This means no feed, hay, or pasture access until the procedure is completed.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional customer service and administrative skills and demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting the smooth and efficient operation of our busy equine veterinary practice.🐴

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

What You Will Be Doing:
As the first point of contact for our clients, your responsibilities will include:
⭐Answering phones/emails and managing client enquiries.
⭐ Processing invoices and payments.
⭐ Maintaining accurate client and patient records.
⭐ Assisting veterinarians and support staff with administrative tasks.
⭐ Ordering and maintaining office supplies.
⭐ Helping to ensure the reception area remains professional, welcoming and organised.

About You:
Previous veterinary reception experience is preferred but not essential. We are looking for someone who:
⭐ Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
⭐ Is friendly, professional and confident interacting with clients.
⭐ Can manage multiple tasks and remain calm in a busy clinic environment.
⭐ Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
⭐ Is proficient with computers and administrative systems.
⭐ Enjoys working as part of a team and supporting others.
⭐ Has an interest in the equine industry (highly regarded).
