This fluffy boy presented after his owner noticed a change in his bark and that he was slightly wobbly. As these are two of the first signs we see for tick paralysis, our nurse Phoebe was doing a quick search while the vet was collecting equipment to take a sample of his blood.

Look at what she found 👀👀

Ticks can be prevented with the right product, and tick treatment is long and expensive.

Ticks are out in full swing, so make sure your pets are protected 🐾

🐾 Let's talk about bloat — because every dog owner should know this.

GDV (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus), is one of the most serious emergencies we see in veterinary medicine. The stomach fills with gas and twists on itself, cutting off blood supply to surrounding organs. It can go from "he seems a bit off" to life-threatening in a matter of hours.

It's fast. It's scary. And without emergency treatment, it's fatal.
Signs to watch for:

🚨 Swollen or tight-looking belly
🚨 Unproductive retching (trying to vomit but nothing comes up)
🚨 Restlessness or inability to get comfortable
🚨 Drooling excessively
🚨 Weakness or collapse

If you see these signs, don't wait. Call us immediately — time is everything.

Dogs and cats age faster than us, a 7 year old dog is roughly in their mid 40s in human years!

Signs to never ignore in older pets:
🩵Lumps or bumps that are new or growing
🩵Slowing down or reluctance to jump
🩵Changes in appetite
🩵Changes in mentation

We recommend a 6 - 12 monthly check ups for pets over 7. Catching things early = better outcomes and lower costs.
