A huge congratulations to the team at Equivet Breeding Centre on a fantastic pregnancy result from a frozen ICSI embryo πŸ‘

This success is a great example of what can be achieved through strong collaboration and precision at every step. From OPU performed by the excellent Equivet team, to oocyte maturation, ICSI, and cryopreservation in the Evogene laboratory, and finally warming and transport back to Equivet for transfer β€” a true full-circle effort.

Results like this highlight the power of combining expertise, attention to detail, and advanced reproductive technologies to deliver outcomes that matter.

Congratulations again to everyone involved β€” we’re proud to be part of the journey.

WANTED!!!

RECIPIENT MARES FOR EMBRYO TRANSFER PROGRAM

Do you have a mare/mares sitting in the paddock not being used? Perhaps a retired mare that is not going to be bred, or maybe there is a need to reduce numbers?

Equivet Breeding Centre provides an Embryo Transfer program for clients. This process involves flushing a fertilised embryo from a donor mare & transferring into a recipient. The recipient carries the pregnancy & rears the foal - this allows the donor mare to remain in competition, and produce progeny at the same time.

This season we have an increased number of bookings for Embryo Transfer and urgently need to expand our Recipient herd.

Please contact Equivet Breeding Centre if you have or know of any suitable mares that meet the following criteria.
Mares must be:
- Young (preferably under the age of 10)
- Fertile & reproductively sound
- Healthy & sound in themselves, with good feet
- Easy to catch & handle

Please Phone: 07 4691 0322 or Email: [email protected]

PIMPED UP CAT changed hands 12 months ago, that's how long it has taken us to get a great new photo of him with one of his new owners Josh Herrmann, thanks to Van Der Stoep Photography.

The ACA National Finals at Goondiwindi proved to be the perfect stage to capture action footage and photos.

Pimped Up Cat's new handle is "Pimpy", he's such a welcome addition to the 2FL Performance Horses team, not only is he living up to all expectations, they are having a tonne of fun with him.

This year he will stand at Gidgeefield, Quinalow QLD after Warwick, Live Cover only, but Frozen semen is available from Equivet Breeding Centre, Southbrook for just $550 inc GST, Conditions apply. Full details on his page:

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE

Many will be aware that there is another viral disease around.

Dr Fiona Thompson from Biosecurity Qld has issued the following communique
on Equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) infection

Veterinarians are advised to stay vigilant and up to date with biosecurity measures to prevent and manage equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) following two recent detections. EHV-1 was detected in one horse with neurological signs in the Townsville region and up to three horses with abortions on a single property in the Toowoomba region.

EHV-1 is a highly contagious viral disease of horses. In Australia, it commonly causes mild respiratory disease, occasionally causes abortion and very rarely, neurological signs. EHV-1 is endemic in Australia.

Please be assured that all at Equivet Breeding Centre are aware of the situation & taking all necessary precautions.
EHV1 is endemic (everywhere) in Australia & many of your mares will probably already carry the latent infection without showing any clinical signs.
Any stress, such as travel, may cause your mare to exhibit symptoms.
Spread is primarily by nose-to-nose contact with infected horses.
A vaccine against the virus does exist but must be given at 5, 7 & 9 months of pregnancy.

The critical thing is any mares showing clinical signs of respiratory disease (nasal discharge etc) MUST be kept separate from your heavily pregnant mares.

Please contact the Centre if you have any further questions.
