Ruthless Photos

Ruthless Photos Helping Sydney and Canberra's dogs in need and celebrating your pet's colourful life since 2008. Photographing exclusively pets since 2008. Living my best life!

Are you the kind of person that can't wait to show photos of your pets to people you just met? Yeah, same! That's me in the page's profile photo. At least, that was me before the pandemic. I have a little more padding these days and sadly all four of those dogs have passed away in the five years since that photo was taken (but we've foster failed two more so I'm still a crazy dog lady, don't worry

!). With so many losses in such a short space of time the importance of capturing memories of our dogs has never become more apparent to me. People often ask when is the best time to book a session? Now. Now is the best time. Whatever age they are there's no better time than today. Don't put it off, tomorrow is never guaranteed. I've never had a client say they wish they'd waited but I've had lots say they wish they hadn't. If you want to see more photos of my dogs you can follow the on Instagram. I have a personal/BTS account called which I only set to private because I was getting so many spam followers, normal people are welcome! Happy 4th birthday to my favourite crackhead, Ninja πŸ₯³

He got some toys and treats but best of all, some alone time with me. I added to his orange chair album too, if you scroll down the page. Spoiler, he looks exactly the same as a year ago!

I really thought, when adopting Spike, that Ninja would tolerate him at best. I couldn’t have been more wrong. They’ve become such good buddies I might have to adopt another dog for Butters to play with πŸ˜‚

Windy-Lou's person was the winner of my Random Acts of Kindness Day giveaway. When I scouted the location it was the middle of a very hot weekday. I asked Megan if it would be busy in the afternoon and if people obey the dogs on leash rule – she wasn't sure so we just hoped for the best.

When I turned up there were multiple kids teams playing sport and off lead dogs everywhere – a pet photographer's worst nightmare! But Windy-Lou, who's only 6 months old (adopted at 3mos) was a bloody superstar. I thoroughly enjoyed photographing her and I'm excited to share the final 10 photos that were chosen.

If you'd love images like these of your dog let's make it happen. There's never going to be a better time than now πŸ₯°

Wishing you all a very happy Easter. Is anyone doing anything / going anywhere fun? We're staying home so we'll be hanging with the dogs mostly and I'll probably find lots of jobs for my handy husband to do! I'll also be working on Spike's "stay" because these photos were not easy to take πŸ˜…

Did you know that I custom make dog wares too? Here are some dogs that stopped by my studio to collect their new outfits and pose for a few pics. (Yes, one is my own dog so he had very little say in the matter.)

The brand is called Ruffined Designs if you want to check it out. There are lots of pre-made sets in the ready to ship section.

I don't like macho dog names on boofy dogs but that's not what we were going for with his new moniker. He's named after one of our favourite frontmen, Spike Slawson from Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. If you're not familiar with the band, do yourself a favour and familiarise yourself! I'll share a video in the comments so the photo makes sense.

When I collected Spike from the Rescue Hub kennels it was likely the first time he'd been separated from his brother (who's been adopted to a home in Queensland) so he made a right racket in the back of the car for about 20 minutes - even though Butters and Ninja were in there too. When I put on MFATGGs he stopped crying, so I guess he must love them as much as we do πŸ˜„

I took a long time to share his new name because I wanted to take this photo to accompany the announcement - and in order to get this photo I needed to first work on his training and also find a time that my favourite assistant / husband, Dave, was available to help. It was a big morning for Spike - he overcame his fear of the stairs at my studio, happily jumped onto the "stage", wore a shirt that was definitely too small and then knocked it out of the park by wearing the sunglasses - what a little legend. We'll have him playing the ukulele in no time!

Welcome to the pack Baby Spike, Spikey or Spike Alfred Slawson if he's in trouble. You can follow his journey on the Ruthless Ratpack insta.
