Last week we had a beautiful bird brought into our clinic after being found in the grounds of Eight Mile Plains state school. We were perplexed as to why no one seemed to be looking for her, as she was clearly so loved and well trained. She talked, climbed up and down our arms and shoulders and had the sweetest demeanor.
When she still hadn't been reunited with her owner after almost a week, we started talking about one of our nurses taking her home as we worried she wasn't getting her needs met in the clinic.
Out of the blue, we opened up our clinic iPad and the first post we saw on the social media news feed was a photo of the little lost bird and a message from her owner pleading for her return.
As it turned out, little Skittles owner had had a very unfortunate few days including a car accident and trip to hospital. In the midst of it all, his beloved bird had escaped and he was sure he'd never see her again.
We were delighted to reunite Skittles with her dad, and we'd all thoroughly enjoyed her company in the 6 days she hung out with us here at the clinic. We wish her owner a swift recovery and are so glad she found her dad and could go home again.
