Scout is Safe.
But He Still Has No One to Come Home To.

This is Scout.

He was brought into our clinic just before 1pm, right as we were closing for the day. A young American Staff; injured, quiet, and trusting.

The man who carried him in said Scout had been hit by a car. He looked overwhelmed, like someone trying to do the right thing in a moment of panic. He stayed while we triaged Scout, signed the paperwork, gave us his details, and thanked us before stepping away.

We stabilised Scout, gave him pain relief, and began checking for internal injuries. Once he was resting and we had more answers, we tried to call.

But the number didn’t connect.

We checked Scout’s microchip, hoping there had been a mistake or that someone else was listed. But the same disconnected numbers appeared. A second contact didn’t lead anywhere either.

So we drove to the address that had been given, not because we were chasing anyone, but because we were concerned. As pet owners ourselves, we understand the shock and fear that can take over when something happens, especially an accident like this.

We’ve been there. We know what it’s like to imagine the worst. We thought maybe someone was at home, waiting for a phone call that never came.

But the woman who answered the door didn’t know Scout. Or the man who brought him in.

So now, Scout remains in our care. He is safe. He is stable. He’s being monitored. But he’s also in limbo.

We’re not rehoming him. Not rushing to the next step. Right now, our focus is singular: to give Scout’s people - if they’re out there - the chance to come forward.
To explain. To reconnect. To come and sit beside the dog who still lifts his head when the door opens, still expecting someone to say his name like it belongs to him.

Because the RSPCA was closed, there was no emergency shelter to transfer him to. And without knowing his full history or even who truly owns him, we couldn’t just hand him over to someone new. So Dr. Shibly has been returning after hours to feed Scout, take him for walks, and keep him company because until his owner comes forward, someone has to show up for him.

This isn’t about blame. We know life is complex. People panic. Things happen. We simply want to find Scout’s people, whether that’s the man who brought him in or someone else still waiting for news.
