🪱Heartworm is on the rise! Is your dog at risk?🪱

🫀Heartworm is a parasite that, like its name suggests, infects the heart of dogs. It is transmitted by mosquitoes, meaning your pet doesn't even need to leave the house to be at risk! Heartworm infections can be fatal, causing respiratory abnormalities and heart disease. Whilst heartworm is treatable, treatment is expensive and can take a year or more to be effective. Unfortunately, this disease seems to be becoming more and more common on the Peninsula.

🫀How to protect your dog? It is simple! Yearly injections are available for those with fussy dogs or people with busy schedules, or monthly chews are available. We also recommend yearly testing for all dogs to ensure they stay negative, and testing for any dogs that have missed their dose, even if it is only by a few days.
