On Saturday we planted a spring/summer manure crop in one of the raised beds. We decided to cover it with netting in case a brush turkey decided it was a good place to build a nest! 😲

The teepee that fell over in June 2025 has now been rebuilt, thanks to Steve! πŸ˜€ We added wood chip mulch to the centre and sugarcane mulch around the circumference. In late spring we plan to plant snake beans.

It's potato planting time again! We planted the first row about a week and a half ago and will plant a total of six rows in succession. We dig a 20cm deep trough and plant the chitted potatoes 35cm apart in holes about 10cm deep. Rows are 65cm apart. After planting we sprinkle the row with blood and bone and water it in. In 6 weeks we'll fertilise the row with liquid Dynamic Lifter.

On Saturday we built another bio intensive compost pile, to make use of the mowed (and unmowable) vegetation waste we've been collecting for the past year. We alternate layers of browns and greens, also adding things like horse manure, chicken manure and wormy compost.
