~ New in vegetables: Cauli Shoots ~

The Vella fellas are at it again!

Barely recovered from picking over 8000 bunches of broccolini (yes!) last week, Charlie and his two sons, Daniel and Jason, are now trying their hands at… cauli stem? Caulini? We were unsure what to call this... until we settled on cauli shoots.

What on earth are cauli shoots, you may ask?

They are mini cauliflowers - called curds - on top of edible stems.
Like broccolini, but with cauliflower characteristics.

Not to be confused with Caulini or broccoflower which have very loose heads, cauli shoots have tight heads (curds) like mini cauliflowers but with very tender stems. They are sweet and nutty and, like broccolini, you can eat stems, leaves, and heads raw, steamed, poached, stir-fried, or roasted.

They are a good source of vitamins C, K, and folate, as well as B-complex vitamins, manganese, phosphorus, and fibre.

At $3.33 a bunch, add some locally-grown cauli shoots to your order today!

🧡 Lentils
