Meet Fudge!

Fudge came in for his castration and absolutely stole all the nurses’ hearts!

With his beautiful coat and even more beautiful personality, it was impossible not to fall in love with him. He was the cuddliest boy and was such a superstar throughout his visit! 🐾💜

🐾 The first evening
- Your pet may be drowsy, wobbly or quieter than usual.
- Offer a small meal and water once fully awake.
- Keep them warm, comfortable and somewhere quiet.
- A reduced appetite can be normal for the first evening

🦷 If teeth were removed
- Mild discomfort or sensitivity is normal.
- Give all prescribed pain relief as directed.
- Soft food may be recommended while the gums heal.
- Avoid bones, hard treats and chew toys until advised by your vet.

💗 The next day
Most pets are back to their normal selves the following day, with fresher breath, improved comfort and often a better appetite!

🚨 Contact your vet if you notice:
- Heavy or ongoing mouth bleeding
- Significant swelling
- Repeated vomiting
- Severe lethargy or difficulty waking
- Refusing food or water for an extended period
- Signs of significant pain or distress

A Little Appreciation Post for Our Beautiful Team 💜

Behind every happy tail, gentle purr and wagging hello is a team who truly cares.

Without our incredible nurses and veterinarians, Kingston would simply not be the same. The veterinary industry can be tough some days, and it can ask a lot of the people who dedicate their lives to caring for animals. But even through the challenging moments, we find appreciation, joy, laughter, and, most importantly, a lot of compassion.

It is this incredible team that allows us to be there for our patients when they need us most, helping them feel better, feel safe and, most importantly, feel like themselves again. 🐾

To every nurse and veterinarian who wakes up each day and brings their knowledge, kindness and unwavering love for animals to work, thank you. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

Our hearts will always be with the Kingston community we have built alongside our wonderful clients, patients and their families. We are so incredibly grateful to be part of it.

Today, we celebrate our amazing veterinary nurses who make Kingston what it is today.
Every day, our nurses show up with a positive, hardworking attitude and an unwavering commitment to making sure each and every patient receives the love, care and attention they deserve.
Every nurse plays such an important role within our clinic, and we truly couldn’t be happier or more grateful for the incredible team we have.
Veterinary nursing isn’t always easy. There are long days, challenging moments and days that can be emotionally tough, but our nurses continue to show up with compassion, kindness, laughter and a genuine love for what they do.
We appreciate our nurses more than words can say and are so thankful for everything they bring to our team and our Kingston community.

Understanding Bird Life Stages

Knowing the different stages of a bird’s development can help you decide when a bird needs help and when it may simply be growing and learning.

🪶 Fledglings may spend time on the ground while learning to fly, with their parents often nearby.

🌱 Juvenile birds are becoming more independent but are still developing their skills and feathers.

🐦 Adult birds are fully developed and independent.

- Not every bird on the ground needs rescuing. However, birds that are injured, bleeding, struggling to breathe, unable to stand, very weak, or have been caught by a cat or dog should be assessed by a vet or wildlife carer.

When in doubt, contact your local vet or wildlife rescue organisation for advice
