Why are pre-breeding examinations so important?
During a routine digital examination of a bitch in oestrus, Dr Heidi detected an abnormality that prompted further investigation with vaginoscopy. This revealed a thick band of tissue within the va**na, known as a va**nal septum (persistent h***n) — a congenital abnormality resulting from altered development during embryogenesis.
Why does it matter? - This band of tissue obstructs the natural passage through the va**na. If left untreated, a va**nal septum can prevent successful natural mating, cause trauma during breeding and result in dystocia by obstructing the birth canal requiring emergency intervention and potentially caesarean.
Identifying and managing reproductive abnormalities before breeding helps protect the health and welfare of the stud, bitch and her future puppies. Call us today to book in.

DESENSITISATION 101 — PART 2!
We’re back with Vegemite and Dr Heidi for Part 2 of our puppy and kitten desensitisation series!
Once your puppy or kitten is comfortable with some basic handling, there are plenty of other things you can introduce gradually to help prepare them for real-life experiences — especially those they’ll encounter at the vet.
The key is to go at their pace, keep things positive and reward calm behaviour. Building these positive experiences early can help set them up for a lifetime of happier, less stressful vet visits.
And Vegemite? We think he’s already well on his way to becoming a very good boy!

Move over, Paris Fashion Week… the Vet Nurses have arrived!
Nurses Amylee, Courtenay and Kym, along with Receptionist Mia, are showing off their brand-new fun scrubs from Vet Nurse Day, and naturally, we had to give them the full catwalk treatment!
Who knew looking after animals came with such a fierce sense of fashion?

⭐ The confidence? Unmatched.
⭐ The models? Professional animal cuddlers with a flair for fashion.
And Dr Mia couldn’t resist joining the runway, showing off her scrubs too!

The team is getting summer ready!
Who needs a gym when you work at a vet clinic? Between lifting patients, chasing escape artists, and doing squats to pick up treats off the floor… we’re basically personal trainers at this point!

Today we celebrate our amazing vet nurses and everything they do.

Being a vet nurse takes an incredible amount of knowledge, skill, patience and compassion. They keep our patients safe, comfortable and loved, often noticing the smallest changes and making sure every animal gets the very best care.

They are also there for our clients through the good days and the really hard ones, and they keep our vets supported, organised and sane!

Our nurses really are the backbone of our clinic and we simply couldn’t do what we do without them.

We are so lucky to have such a knowledgeable, skilled and caring team.

When the nurse says “STOP… puppy time!”
And suddenly, it’s all squeaks, snuggles and tiny puppy chaos!
From that very first squeal, to making sure they’re feeding well, every little sound is music to our ears. Our vets and nurses keep a close eye (and ear) on every newborn to make sure they’re happy, healthy and settling in after their big arrival.
Caesarean might be serious business, but we definitely don’t mind the puppy breaks!
