🦷✨ Mr L's Annual Dental Visit ✨🦷

Mr L came in this week for his annual dental procedure and was an absolute champion! He had a smooth anaesthetic, a successful dental treatment, and an excellent recovery. ❤️
Such an adorable, sweet little man

While his teeth looked fairly good above the gum line, his dental X-rays told a different story. Just like an iceberg, we only see about one-third of a tooth during a routine examination, with the remaining two-thirds hidden beneath the gums.

Mr L's X-rays revealed issues that could not be seen during a visual inspection alone, allowing us to identify and treat problems before they became more serious and painful.

This is exactly why we include full-mouth dental X-rays with all Stage 1 dental procedures. They help us detect hidden disease, assess tooth roots, and ensure we are providing the most thorough dental care possible for your pet.

Many dental problems occur below the gum line, where they can quietly progress without obvious signs. By taking dental X-rays, we can uncover these "hidden issues" and help keep our patients comfortable, healthy, and pain-free.

Well done, Mr L – enjoy that fresh, clean smile! 😁🐾

❄️🐾 Winter is here — and just like us, our pets feel the cold too!

As the temperatures drop, it’s important to make sure our furry family members stay warm, comfortable and healthy throughout the colder months.

Here are a few winter care reminders for your pets:

🛏️ Provide warm, dry bedding away from drafts
🥣 Keep up good nutrition — some pets may need extra calories in winter
💧 Always ensure access to fresh water (even in cold weather!)
🦴 Older pets and those with arthritis may feel stiffer in winter and may need extra support
🧥 Short-coated or elderly pets may benefit from coats on cold walks
🐶 Continue regular exercise, even if it’s shorter walks during chilly days
🐱 Bring domestic pets indoors during extreme cold, frost or wet weather

Winter is also a great time to keep up with routine health checks, arthritis management and dental care to help your pets stay comfortable and happy.

Stay warm everyone — from all of us and our four-legged helpers 🐾❤️

🐾🦷 This little cutie came in for a dental — a Stage 1 scale and polish — and she did an amazing job!

Keeping our pets’ dental hygiene in check is so important because good oral health plays a huge role in their overall wellbeing. Poor dental health can lead to much more than just bad breath.

Some important reasons to stay on top of dental care include:

✨ Reduces bad breath
✨ Helps prevent painful dental disease
✨ Prevents tartar and plaque build-up
✨ Can reduce the risk of infections spreading to organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys
✨ Helps pets eat comfortably and maintain good nutrition
✨ Improves overall comfort, health and quality of life

Dental disease is one of the most common conditions we see in pets — and often it can go unnoticed until it becomes quite advanced. Regular dental checks can make a huge difference 🐶🐱🦷

🐴❤️ We are huge believers in the therapy and comfort animals provide to people. The connection we share with animals can bring so much joy, calmness and emotional support into our lives.

One of our staff member’s sister lives in Chicago (USA), and recently they had therapy animals visit their workplace… including this little superstar — a therapy pony complete with tiny booties... and yes, its name was Charmer! 🥹🐾

Apparently the pony was an absolute hit and brought smiles to everyone lucky enough to meet it.

Now the big question is… do we need a clinic pony? 🤔😂🐴

📺🐾 As part of our recent tech upgrades at the clinic, we’ve installed a lovely big TV to display our SmartFlow system.

SmartFlow allows our team to electronically manage your pet’s hospital stay, giving us instant access to patient images, treatment plans, medications, notes and procedures — all at the touch of a button. It’s a terrific piece of technology that helps us provide even better patient care and communication throughout the day.

However… when it’s not being used for work purposes, we may have accidentally introduced Barry and Pearl to the wonderful world of David Attenborough documentaries… 😂

Safe to say they are completely obsessed! The TV now apparently belongs to them, and if they had thumbs, we’re quite certain they’d already have worked out the remote control. 🐶📺🐾
