📢 A LITTLE WEBSITE UPDATE!

Our RSPCA NT website is currently down, and we know this may make it a little harder for our community to find information about our animals available for adoption.

Unfortunately, this isn't just affecting us here in the NT, but other RSPCAs interstate as well. Our team is working on getting everything back up and running as soon as possible! 💚

But don't worry — our gorgeous dogs are still waiting for their forever homes! 🐶🐾

In the meantime, we've put together a list of all our current dogs available for adoption.

This includes all those currently at our shelter and also those enjoying some much-needed TLC in foster care.

❤️ HAMISH’S HAPPY ENDING! ❤️

Remember our beautiful boy Hamish? 🥹🐾

When Hamish first came into our care, he was an incredibly nervous and unsure boy who seemed to have lost his trust in the world. And then, during his desexing surgery, our veterinary team made the heartbreaking discovery of two bullets lodged in his leg. 💔

We shared Hamish’s story with all of you, and the love, support and kindness from our community meant so much as we continued his journey towards a brighter future.

Well, we have some VERY special news to share… HAMISH HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 🥹❤️🏡

Our handsome boy has found his person, and seeing him alongside his new owner, looking so happy, makes every step of his journey worth it.

To everyone who followed Hamish’s story, shared our posts, sent messages of support and cheered him on from afar — THANK YOU. Your kindness helps shine a light on animals like Hamish and reminds us just how much our community cares.

His story began with heartbreak, but it gets to continue with love, safety and a family of his very own. And honestly, we couldn’t be happier for him. 🐾❤️

Here’s to a beautiful new chapter, Hamish. You deserve all the love in the world, big boy. 🥹

💔 ODIN’S STORY:..

FROM A BROKEN SOUL TO A HAPPY BOY — ODIN IS READY FOR LOVE. ❤️

Meet Odin.
Our beautiful dachshund boy whose story has touched the hearts of everyone here at RSPCA NT.

When Odin first came to us, he was a shadow of the dog he deserved to be. He was heartbreakingly sad, with no tail wags, barely wanting to lift his head, and no light in his eyes. He looked like a dog who had simply given up on the world. 💔

Alongside his emotional pain, Odin had an extremely severe, ulcerated eye.
The damage was so significant that it was initially impossible to see just how bad things were beneath the surface.
Our veterinary team started him on medication and pain relief to make him more comfortable while we worked towards getting a clearer picture, desperately hoping we might be able to save his eye.

We can only imagine how much pain Odin must have been living with before he came into our care. 😔

Sadly, once our vet could fully assess the damage, it became clear that his eye could not be saved.
Odin was already blind in that eye, and removing it was the kindest option — giving him the best chance of being comfortable and free from that ongoing pain.

Thankfully, his surgery was a success. ❤️

And just look at him now. 🥹🐾

The sad, defeated boy who first walked through our doors has blossomed into a happy, thriving dog who is finally enjoying life.
His personality has begun to shine, his spirit has lifted, and he has become a firm favourite among our staff, who have fallen head over heels for him as they've followed his journey.

Odin's story is a reminder that sometimes, a little kindness, the right medical care, and someone willing to give you a chance can change everything. He may have lost an eye, but he hasn't lost his ability to love, trust, or enjoy the world around him. ❤️

Now, there's just one piece of the puzzle missing: his forever family. 🏡

Odin deserves a home where he can continue to flourish, where he is loved for the beautiful boy he is, and where the difficult chapters of his past can be replaced with a lifetime of comfort, security and happiness.

TWO BULLETS. ONE BEAUTIFUL SOUL. A FUTURE THAT DESERVES TO BE DIFFERENT.🥺

This is Hamish. ❤️

Our handsome Irish Wolfhound arrived at RSPCA NT a very nervous boy, unsure of the world and still learning whether he could trust the people around him.

With time, patience and kindness, we've watched him begin to blossom. He's coming out of his shell and discovering the beautiful feeling of human affection when it's offered gently, without expectation or fear.

And just as we were celebrating how far this boy has come, we discovered something truly heartbreaking.

During his desexing surgery yesterday, our vet found TWO BULLETS LODGED IN HAMISH'S LEG. 💔

We may never know exactly what happened to him. But no matter his past, Hamish deserved better.

Sadly, this isn't an isolated incident. Hamish is the third dog this year to have bullets surgically removed while in our care.

Three dogs this year.

It's a devastating reality, and one that should never be accepted as normal.

Behind every one of these discoveries is a living, breathing animal who feels pain, fear and trust. Animals who rely on us to protect them, not cause them harm.

And yet, despite whatever Hamish may have experienced before coming to us, he is still learning to trust. Still opening his heart. Still discovering that there are humans who will offer him kindness.

That is something truly special. ❤️

Now, Hamish is thriving and ready for adoption. We're searching for a home where this gentle giant can continue to grow in confidence, receive all the affection he could ever want, and finally know the comfort of being safe and loved.

His past may be heartbreaking, but his future doesn't have to be.

🩸A lifesaver looking for a family..

Meet our beautiful Pepper 🌶🐶

Pepper recently helped save the life of a very sick puppy who came into our care by being a blood donor.

Our wonderful girl was an absolute trooper the whole way through, and we couldn’t be prouder of her. 🥰

With her beautiful nature and so much love to give, Pepper is already a hero in our eyes.

However, she’s still waiting for something special of her own:. a forever home and a family to love her 💜

She’s helped give one little life another chance, now we’d love to see Pepper get her chance at a happy new beginning, too.

🐾 💛 RINGWORM FOSTER NEEDED FOR OUR LITTLE CADBURY! 💛

Meet Cadbury 🍫🐶 — our adorable little puppy boy who would absolutely LOVE a chance to leave the shelter and recover somewhere cosy, safe and full of love! 🥹❤️

Cadbury is already receiving treatment for ringworm, and the good news is that he’s not too far away from being all clear! We would love to find him a foster home where he can continue his treatment without having to spend this time isolated in the shelter.

✨ We’ll provide everything you need to care for him, including supplies and support.
✨ You don’t need to have experience with ringworm — we can guide you through it!

🐾 A little bit about ringworm…

Despite its name, ringworm isn't actually a worm! It's a common fungal skin infection that can cause patches of hair loss or flaky skin. It's treatable, and most animals recover well with the right care. ❤️

It can spread to other animals and people, so good hygiene, handwashing and following the recommended cleaning routine are important. Cadbury will need to be kept separate from other pets while he's being treated, with appropriate precautions in place.

🐶 Puppy quarantine rules still apply! Cadbury must remain safely quarantined and cannot go on grass or into public areas until he is fully vaccinated. His foster home will need a suitable, easy-to-clean indoor space where he can rest and recover safely.

We know ringworm might sound a little daunting, but with the right setup and support, fostering a puppy like Cadbury can be incredibly rewarding. 💕

He deserves more than spending his recovery isolated in a shelter. He deserves a warm bed, gentle cuddles (with the right precautions!) and a chance to simply be a puppy. 🥹🐾

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible veterinary nurses who dedicate their lives to caring for animals, supporting their families, and making a difference every single day. 🩺🐶🐱

Behind every successful treatment, every comforting cuddle, every recovery and every little tail wag is often a vet nurse giving their time, skill, compassion and heart to the animals who need them most.

From the long and challenging days to the emotional moments, the sleepless nights, the little victories and the happy endings, vet nurses are there through it all. They provide comfort when animals are scared, advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves, and offer kindness when it matters most. 💕

At RSPCA NT, we know just how much dedication, patience and love goes into this profession. Today, we want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to our own amazing veterinary nursing team, and to every vet nurse out there who works tirelessly to make the world a better place for animals.
