Did you know the amazing Cat Protection Society of Victoria has a Benevolent Fund, established with a heartfelt mission:
"to spare devoted cat owners from the agonising choice of parting with their cherished feline friends, and to shield beloved cats from the anguish of surrender to our shelter."
The Benevolent Fund is used by our Society to provide a lifeline to loving cat owners facing financial hardship where the owner’s inability to fund emergency or unexpected veterinary care would otherwise result in surrender, euthanasia or significantly impact their cat’s life. This funding provides for one-off, emergency or unexpected veterinary care and cannot be used for ongoing veterinary or preventative care. This care will be provided at our onsite, Cat Protection Society Veterinary Clinic. We are unable to provide funding for treatment and / or care at other Veterinary Clinics.

All applications for support using our Benevolent Fund will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and the decision on the cat’s and families we are able to assist will be made in consultation with a member of our adoption shelter team and a Senior Veterinarian.

🙏 Foster CARER wanted!
HeLP! Do you live on acreage and can foster care for 4 cats AND a dog⁉️
Or possibly 2 cats? Or a dog!

We have a family urgently needing TEMPORARY foster care for their fur babies due to a critical housing situation. The perfect outcome would be all 4 cats AND the dog fostered together🙏 but we understand the fur family may need to be separated and split up into different foster homes. If you could consider caring for 2 cats, or any combination, then please still let us know!

Nb. To foster all 4 cats for this family, the carer will need to live on over .25 hectares, to meet local council requirements. Fyi ~ To house 5 cats, a householders land must be 1+ ha👋🏼
All pets are Microchipped, desexed and registered (altho currently to current owner).

If you are keen to find out more, please get in touch ASAP for questions & to complete our Foster Care application.

⏰️We are estimating the timeframe required will be approx 2-3 months, although we would like to allow approx 6 months (Feb/March).

We will look after vet costs but do prefer if our carers can provide food, litter tray, toys & travel cage (or we can supply) .. at least until we can source a pet supply organisation who can help us with these cat items, especially litter and cat food!

✨️ MR. TWINKLE TOES 🐈‍⬛️
Awww talk about affectionate! This guy has lived the absolute life in a nursing home (Mercy Place Colac) for most of his life! But he is now needing a forever home urgently, if you would love to look after him in his senior years, please contact Colac Cat Rescue.

He is adorable & loves affection and really loves being around people!
Perfectly kitty litter trained.

Mr Twinks 😁 is an inside cat, but once he gets a taste of the outside, he wanders! And wanders!! Therefore he will need to be an inside only cat, or have boundaries for him in the yard.

Twinkle Toes will be allowed to go from his current owner/carer straight to his new home (the Approved Adoption applicant) once a Meet & Greet has been successful and the Adoption paperwork has been authorised.

Pringles is adorable, steals nuggets, has the cutest little meow, likes to be by your side (not really a "on your lap" cat), he's playful, incredibly sweet and looks like the Pringles logo!

Pringles has a few habits! (don't we all)🫩🤦‍♀️ He is a bit of a houdini & loves to ESCAPE! An outdoor enclosed area might work. He loves to walk, go on adventures and enjoy the outdoors & sunshine! He'd also be perfectly suited to the farm life!

He is also known to SPRAY😳
This could be for a number of reasons. The current owner has followed advice & tried everything for several months, except one being there is an existing cat in the home (when first adopted). Please enquire & we will explain methods tried & the current owners situation, plus how we will assist in the transition.

Going straight to adoption (rather than foster care) was a decision based on less environmental stress for Pringles whilst ensuring he enters the most suitable (single cat) forever home that can meet his current & future needs, alongside our own + veterinary guidance that we will arrange. 🩵Do you remember Sam?
He is ready for ADOPTION !!

You may recall 10yo Sam who was Rescued last month near Talbot St. Sadly his elderly human had passed away and Sam somehow lived on the streets being fed by locals for 3 years, until he turned up at Kayla's home asking for help with an incredibly badly damaged eye😢

Prior to all that ^ Sam was named "Toby" but his owners moved away & honestly thought after missing for so long that he must of died!🥺 Nope!!

We placed him in foster care as soon as we could, then with great efforts from our local Community via Colac Cat Rescue, the exact amount of funds were raised to cover the balance of Sam's operation to remove his eye 🙏👏
In a wonderful turn of events (and skill🏆), Dr Mike @ Rhodes Vet was able to save Sam's eye!!

Sam was placed with a new foster family to recover and we are sooo thankful for their massive efforts + continual vet visits. THANKYOU!

Sam is now ready to join your furrever home! He would love to find his safe place where he can finally call it his secure, forever home base 🙏

Sam loves to sit in the bathtub and listen to people talk! (and watch them 😆😂). He is fine with other cats too.

He is a very big boy and is fluffy & heavy! It might take a while to warm up to his new fam (it might help if you have a bath tub 🤣 or maybe get him a baby bath to sit in!!) but once he realises he is welcome, he will start to feel safe 🫶

He adores just hanging around and being part of the family. He loves to get outside but we recommend he remain as an inside cat .. or until he is familiar with his surroundings, possibly introduce him to your outside surroundings on a leash at first!

Please contact Colac Cat Rescue with any questions about Adopting Sam. There is no set fee with our adoptions although we request a donation towards our charity.
As we are continuously & desperately trying to fundraise for desexing & microchipping & vet work for our local cat community, we can discuss a donation or a suitable arrangement towards our Cat Rescue for the adoption of Sam 👏🤍 which can be claimed on your tax return. All donations $2 and over are tax deductible. Of course, more information can be provided via messenger or email.

Meet the incredible cuteness factor of Herbie!
Herbie like many other cats was rescued from a very unfortunate situation.
There were many cats having back to back pregnancies and he was needing rescue as everyone was adopting the kittens but leaving the older cats behind. He was one of them.
Herbie is only young at about 13 months old and is a big cat!
Herbie is shy at first and needs a quieter home. His ideal life is to be the only cat with a doting owner or owners.
He hasn’t been around dogs but would be fine with a gentle cat friendly dog with proper introductions.

Herbie loves company when he gets to know you! Doesn’t like being picked up at this stage but this could change in time.

Loving and dedicated homes need only apply as we want to get this right for this beautiful soul.
