💙🐾Some important things to remember over the Easter break🐾💙
🎀 Chocolate can be fatal to dogs - darker chocolate being the most potent
🎀 Hot cross buns contain sultanas which can be fatal to dogs and make cats very sick!
🎀 Beware of all Lily species which are common this time of year they can be fatal for cats
🎀 Table foods like onions, garlic, macadamia nuts, avocados, fatty meats and bones should not be given to dogs
🎀 Beware of Easter toys and decorations that could be ingested
Its best to seek Veterinarian advice if your dog has consumed anything naughty over the easter break.
Please call 4057 6033 if your pet needs emergency care over Easter.

Lime - an 8 year old male green tree python recently came in to see Dr Farand for a top to tail health check, a full examination (including his dental check - with help from nurse Maddi) gave him a clean bill of health!

Here is Bodhi with Dr Ashleigh when he was so small he could snuggle on her lap- he just came in for for desexing and look how much he has grown! Very handsome 💙 Definitely no lap time but lots of snuggles still! We love seeing your animals grow here with us at Marlin Coast Vets.

💙🐾Senior Receptionist🐾💙

Marlin Coast Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced and professional Senior Receptionist to start immediately, working a variety of shifts on our busy reception desk (which will include day, evening and some weekend shifts).

The role
This role is primarily responsible for providing excellent customer service, as first point of contact for our clients, we are seeking someone who will provide a positive experience whilst assisting with administrative responsibilities such as:

• Provide a professional frontline reception experience
• Handling client enquiries professionally in person, by email and over the phone
• Oversee and manage the reception team, including scheduling, training and performance evaluations
• Administration support to our team of specialists, Veterinarians and Nurses
• Product sales and client education
• A permanent full-time role with variety
• Monday to Friday, 10 hour shifts within the hours of 7.00 am – 7.30 pm (4 shifts per week)
• Some Saturday work required (estimated 1 in 4)
• Industry specific training will also be provided

The ideal candidate will be someone who is:
• Committed to providing the highest standard of care to our patients, customers and staff
• Mature with the ability to remain professional while dealing with a diverse clientele and a range of animals entering the clinic
• Able and willing to work with a sense of urgency at times & effectively multi-task
• Has an enthusiastic and positive approach to their work and the team
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to pick up a new client booking system.
• Possibly have worked as a Veterinary Nurse or Human Nurse in the past and have demonstrated triage skills (although please note that this role does not contain any nursing responsibilities and is not likely to lead to a Veterinary Nursing position).

💙🐾 A Samoyed day! 🐾💙
These beautiful dogs recently came in one after another this week. Raffy is 2 years old and a very big boy! Mishka & Samiah are brother and sister 3 years old. Samoyeds are very affectionate who thrive on human company and definitely do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. They have the best smiles 🥰 and are very photogenic.

💙🐾 Herman- one very brave boy!🐾💙
Herman came into us after hours feeling very unwell, dry reaching and with a dilated stomach. Radiographs showed Herman to have a GDV (Gastric dilution volvulus), this happens when the stomach fills with gas and twists upon itself so that both the entrance and exit of the stomach becomes blocked, a very painful and uncomfortable experience.
GDVs commonly occur in large breed and deep chested dogs this is why we recommend gastropexy surgery (usually at the time of desexing). A gastropexy is a surgical procedure that attaches the stomach to the abdominal wall to prevent the stomach from twisting.

We are so glad that Herman has made a full recovery after a few days in hospital.

Ziggy came to us after a nasty encounter with a paper wasp nest, after a day stay in hospital and some much needed antihistamines Dad was really missing him!
