Meet ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ณ๐๐ซ, the not so little 12-week-old Mastiff puppy ๐ถ๐
Like most puppies, Bowzer is a very curious boy, but unfortunately, he learnt the hard way that not everything shiny is safe to sniff and somehow, he ended up with a fishhook stuck through his nose and lip. Thankfully due to the diligence of his owner, Bowzer was brought into the clinic quickly and the hook was safely removed โ but situations like this can become serious very quickly, especially if hooks are swallowed ๐ฃ
Puppies explore the world with their noses and mouths, and their curiosity can easily lead to painful accidents ๐พ๐
* Always be vigilant at home and keep fishing tackle, hooks, bait, and lines securely stored and out of petsโ reach
* Regularly check your yard and outdoor spaces for discarded hooks, bait, or fishing line before letting pets roam
* Never try to pull a fishhook out yourself โ this can cause more tissue damage
* If your pet gets hooked, keep them calm and seek veterinary care immediately
* Watch for signs of pain, swelling, bleeding, pawing at the face, or difficulty eating
* Dispose of used fishing gear properly to protect pets and wildlife
A little prevention goes a long way in keeping adventurous puppies safe. Weโre so glad this little guy is on the mend and back to wagging his tail ๐๐
