The much-loved Furry Friends Festival is back on Saturday 30 May from 8am–1pm at the Bangalow Showgrounds.

This is a FREE community event.

Bring your doggos (on lead, please!) to the Doggy Arena, packed with trainer demos, fun games and friendly competitions.

Wander through the Paws and Claws Market, boasting 40 pet‑loving stalls filled with giveaways, treats and expert tips.

Enjoy live tunes, tasty food stalls, free kids’ face painting and a playful photo booth for pooch snaps of you and your pets.

As part of the fun, we’re championing responsible pet ownership – from keeping your pet safe and under control, to making sure they’re microchipped, registered and well-socialised.

Dogs rarely show chronic pain clearly — the clues are subtle 🐕🐾

Here are 6 subtle signs to help you identify pain in your best friend:

1️⃣ Facial cues — squinting, ears back, tense jaw, or avoiding eye contact.
2️⃣ Posture + grooming changes — licking one spot, hunching, or avoiding certain positions.
3️⃣ Behaviour shifts — withdrawing from family or other pets, clingier the usual, or unusually grumpy.
4️⃣ Unexplained panting — panting when it’s cool or calm.
5️⃣ Slow or stiff movement — hesitating to jump or use stairs, excessive circling before lying down, restlessness during, or stiff after, naps.
6️⃣Changes in appetite — eating slower, dropping food, or avoiding hard food and bones.

Please help the Northern Rivers Wildlife Hospital open this Christmas. Local wildlife services are overwhelmed by the numbers of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife being rescued. The Northern Rivers Wildlife Hospital is a permanent purpose built wildlife hospital designed to provide excellent veterinary care and animal welfare for native birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians. 🌟

Vetfordia is a fantastic day of music, art, wellness activities, and community spirit. Vetfordia promises to be an unforgettable celebration of joy, healing & camaraderie. Vetfordia is being organised by awesome holistic vet Elaine Cebuliak and her team. Many of the performers are integrative vets, including Dr Megan. Vetfordia will be a wonderful weekend of community connection and joy!
