Smokey is a strong independent woman who sorts out her vet bill by herself 😂

We discovered a new product to help medicate difficult pooches! Yes, ‘smooshed’ is a technical word. And correction, it comes in ham and peanut butter 😂

And last but certainly not least, Lilly! 🥰

For anyone new here, we're going to post some information about our team throughout this week 😄 Starting with founding staff member, Dr Eden! ✨

🐮 Meet Eden!

Eden was named after our Dr Eden, who spent a cold, dark Monday night doing everything she could to pull this little Highland calf through.

After what we suspect was a difficult birth, little Eden was extremely weak and unable to suckle or swallow. This meant she hadn’t received the vital colostrum she needed, leaving her without the energy and immunity required to get a strong start in life.

With lots of patience, we were able to get some colostrum into her, as well as some injections. Her wonderful owner then continued with regular feeds throughout the night, giving Eden the best possible chance.

Thankfully, all that hard work paid off! Just a couple of days later, she’s back drinking happily from Mum and is bright as a button 🥰

A very happy ending for this little Highland girl and a great reminder of just how important those first few hours of colostrum are for newborn calves.

This is one of Dr Eden’s patients Charlie, with his owner, Milly. Charlie was showing some signs of bit resistance when being ridden, so they decided to do a dental check, given he was recently purchased. They were told when they purchased him that he had already had a dental in January, however dental exam this week revealed some sharp points that had been missed on his very back cheek teeth.

This small oversight meant he was very uncomfortable when being ridden. The sharp edges were causing him to bite his own cheek every time he closed his mouth. Dr Eden commented that his mouth was otherwise perfect. Milly rode Charlie two days later and commented that he was significantly more relaxed and not fiddling with the bit. This just shows that even minor abnormalities in the mouth can have a dramatic effect on comfort when riding! 🦷

Is your horse chewing at the bit, or throwing its head around when you ask for contact? Consider booking it in for a dental! Equally, if your horse hasn’t had a dental in 12 months, it needs one! 🪥

Horse’s teeth continually grow, so it doesn’t take long for abnormalities to develop and worsen. Charlie’s example involves very mild changes, however it’s common for Dr Eden to open a horse’s mouth and see significant pathology which can also contribute to weight loss, choke and impaction colic.

We offer discounts for multiple horses, and all dentals are performed under sedation to facilitate a thorough examination and an accurate dental float.
