Keeping Your Pets Safe This Christmas
🎅🐶🐱
The festive season is fun and busy, but it can also bring a few hidden dangers for our furry family members.
As we all rush around preparing food, wrapping presents and visiting loved ones, please take a moment to make sure your pets stay safe and healthy.
Some common Christmas foods that are toxic to cats and dogs include:
🚫 Chocolate
🚫 Grapes & sultanas (including in puddings, fruit cake, mince pies)
🚫 Onions, garlic & chives
🚫 Cooked bones
🚫 Alcohol
🚫 Macadamia nuts
🚫 Xylitol (found in sugar-free lollies, gum & some baked goods)
🚫 Fatty meats and trimmings (can cause pancreatitis)
Also keep an eye on:
-Tinsel, ribbon & string (can cause dangerous blockages if swallowed)
-Real Christmas trees (needles can irritate mouths and paws)
-Candles & decorations within paw’s reach
A little awareness goes a long way in keeping your pets safe during the celebrations.
From all of us here at AWL Armidale Branch, we wish you and your animal companions a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy holiday season! 🎅🐾❤️
