Another Hectic Week in the Life of AWSO… 💔🐾
The need is growing. The work never stops. But neither does our commitment to the animals who need us.
Every Wednesday, the AWSO team heads out on a Food Run.
But it is so much more than simply handing out food.
Behind every bowl of food is an animal that is trying to survive.
🐾 Dogs and cats are identified for sterilisation, helping to break the cycle of unwanted puppies and kittens.
🐾 Injured and sick animals are identified so that we can try to get them the veterinary care they desperately need.
🐾 Animals whose owners can no longer care for them are identified and assessed for adoption, giving them a chance at a safer and better life.
🐾 And, most importantly, we feed as many animals as our available food allows.
On many Wednesdays, more than 100 dogs are fed.
And the need keeps growing.
These photographs show only a small part of the story.
Animals are living and surviving among rubbish, hunger and incredibly difficult conditions. They cannot ask for help. They cannot choose where they live. They depend on us to notice them.
💔 But AWSO cannot do this alone.
AWSO receives no financial assistance from the Municipality. We are a small welfare organisation trying to respond to a need that is becoming bigger every week.
There is only so much we can do without your help.

AWSO does not have its own vehicle.
We rely on the kindness of a Good Samaritan who helps us with transport. Without diesel, even getting out into the community becomes difficult.
And when we don’t have enough food, we simply cannot feed all the animals waiting for us.

If you have good, usable items at home that you no longer need, please consider donating them to the AWSO Charity Shop instead of throwing them away.
Your unwanted items can become much-needed funds for animals in desperate need.
Every item donated can help us buy food, medication or provide veterinary care.
