Sharing as we all work together and need carriers and crates for sterilization days funded by Animal Welfare Helderberg

🚨 CAT CARRIER SOS 🚨

This Thursday and Friday we will be transporting cats from our communities for sterilisation.

We have the vets.
We have the volunteers.
We have the vehicles.

But we don’t have enough cat carriers.

If you have a cat carrier gathering dust in a garage, storeroom or spare room, please consider lending or donating it to Sweet Paws.

Every carrier helps another cat get safely to and from surgery.

It must be full moon.... the concept of "bed time" seems to have eluded the little pests 😂
Please adopt them so we can have a good nights sleep 🤣🤣they adorable and we love them but would love them to find their forever homes so we can move on to the next rescues 🙏🙏🙏

"All good ☺️They're not growling"
Hang on.
Some dogs can and do growl in play.
It can be completely normal.

"So how can I tell"?
It can be tricky to tell the difference between healthy play and those interactions that are something else entirely.
There are some areas we can look at to help us decipher.

➡️Immediate posture changes/rigidity/stillness

Some dogs pause, go still and then explode with loose and wiggly movements. That’s often play.
The problematic kind of rigidness is different.
It can linger for longer.
Even when the other dog is showing everyway they can "all's good here".
That stillness and posture is "tight".

It can come with hard stares, leaning or standing over.
Stiff body posture from either dog, even the one on the ground.

That’s not play

➡️When high energy switches to frantic.

Chasing and being chased. Some dogs love this.
There can be an energy change with chasing that we need to watch for though.
It can turn.
It can become far more frantic and direct.

If one dog is always the chaser, and when they catch the other, the tone changes, the body language tightens, the movements escalate and it stops looking mutual?
That’s when caution is needed.

We don't want to stop dogs playing but we do need to recognise when it's no longer fun for all dogs involved.

This gorgeous 6 year old Bull Terrier mix has been deeply loved her whole life. Sadly, her beloved owner — now nearly 80 years old — is suffering from early onset dementia and must move into a care facility soon. 💔 Baby Blue has slept beside him every night for years, loving him loyally and unconditionally. Saying goodbye is absolutely heartbreaking.

Now we need someone incredible to open their heart and home to this beautiful girl. 🥹💙

Baby Blue is affectionate, intelligent, obedient and FULL of personality! She absolutely adores human companionship and wants nothing more than to be close to her person. She thrives on love, routine, guidance and regular exercise.

🐾 Super clever and eager to please

She would do best as the only pet in the home and is not suited to homes with cats, other dogs or very small children. She needs a calm, experienced owner who understands strong breeds and can continue giving her the stable, loving life she knows.

Baby Blue is NOT a guard dog — she is simply a loyal soul looking for someone to love with her whole heart. 💙

Please help us share her story far and wide so this precious girl can find the safe, loving forever home she deserves. 🙏🏼🐾
