Where puppies and kittens are gifts instead of Barbie and Ken and all things toys. We find so many being given to young children by their parents that its a huge worry. This little girl must be all of four and she came to get food for her new puppy - If the parents took responsibility for the pets and taught the children how to care for them it would be fine but its always the excuse that no its my child's dog they didn't feed it. My kind se hond we hear maybe 10 times a day. Dogs and cats are not toys yet because they are handed out free to all and sundry and as replaceable as batteries we find so many sick, starving or hurt beyond help. Its a very tough situation to navigate - today a woman refused to sign a dog for steri as its her sons dog, age of the son is 7 - try negotiate that one when the adult refuses responsibility.

This young pup was found on the road side running away from her former life it seems. She is still young with a pretty half moon on her coat. Very confident she was barking at every one who came to our car - We have to keep her for 10 days in case her owner claims her but considering the area she was found in I do not think they will. She will be small to medium size and up for adoption shortly - Abigail's Animal Foster House has some really lovely dogs for adoption, all cat , child and dog friendly - Please message her to meet this girl.

An update on Lucy the thin thin pittie girl who is really looking so much better - came running for her food where as before she could barely crawl - her owner showed us a bag of monty and me she had bought as well - she will be looking like the dog she should be in a few weeks.

We received a photo of the once thin rottie girl who is now thoroughly spoilt in her new home - now named Edith, this photo was taken by Adele when she was spotted out shopping with her owner - she really is looking stunning and that bad start in life far behind her.

Small steps but they all help us forwards.

Meet Mia - we found her today. Her owner moved some weeks ago and left her chained to starve or freeze to death, there is a lot of water where she is so the cold must have been bone destroying. The white on her face is from some mielie meal and potato peels the neighbor gave her today out of pity. her paws and tail have a terrible fungus from the wet and yet she is still alive through all of this.You tell me what form of humanity does this because from all the cruelty we have seen, this is one of the worst, to do this deserves a life in a cell somewhere far away - she cannot look for food, the padlock around her neck is heavier than she is . Where can she find shelter from all the rain we have had? Her chances of recovery are slim - lets see what we can do.

We found this young shepherd male in the informal area close to the N2 - people said he had been roaming there for a few weeks - however just as he came to our car for food so we could catch him a group of children came past and he ran into the maze that is that area - we searched for an hour but no luck. We have sent one of the residents out to find him with a promise of a reward and we will look again early tomorrow. He is is a very neglected state but if he has been posted as missing please let us know - he must be about 2 years old, exceptionally scared - he has what looks like a red collar on - we will scan him as soon as we get him.

makes the most stunning dog beds, fully washable and his materials are really gorgeous. He is often at the markets with his range. We have one bed plus one of his beaded collars up for grabs as the 3rd part of our lucky draw. The bed and collar will fit a medium size dog easily but we can up or down scale as needed.

It seems the very handsome Buddy needs to travel a few more miles to find his person. he is currently in foster in Somerset west and loving being spoilt. He is friendly with female dogs, not tested with cats. He is about 7 years old - he traveled miles on his 3 legs to find his person surely some one can make space for this boy. Sasha the pup we found scavenging in the mud has really turned into a beautiful dog under Abigail's care, she will be medium to small and is cat, dog and child friendly.
