🐾 Tuesday Tips: Enrichment Edition! 🐾

Not all enrichment is created equal! Just like people, every dog has their own hobbies. Some love to sniff, some love to chase, and then there are the dogs who believe everything in life should be tested with their teeth first... 😅🦷

This week we're talking about The Chewers — those furry little woodchippers who can turn a brand-new toy into confetti in record time.

💡 Tips for your champion chomper:
🐶 Rotate safe chew toys to keep things exciting.
🦴 Offer long-lasting chews that match your dog's size and chewing strength.
🎾 Try stuffing durable toys with treats for an extra challenge.
🐾 Reward calm chewing on appropriate items (and not your shoes!).

Chewing is a natural behaviour that can help dogs relax, relieve boredom, and burn some mental energy. The trick is finding safe outlets that satisfy those busy jaws!

🐾 Tuesday Tips – The Shredders Edition 🐾

Not all enrichment works for all dogs… and some dogs were simply born to ✨destroy✨ things 😂

This week we’re talking about the SHREDDERS — the dogs that see a cardboard box and think:
“Ah yes… my life’s purpose.” 🐕💥📦

Shredding can actually be a healthy outlet for certain dogs when done safely and appropriately. For many high-energy or mouthy dogs, tearing things apart helps release stress, burn mental energy, and satisfy natural chewing instincts.

💡 A few tips for surviving life with a tiny furry paper shredder:

🦴 Give legal destruction outlets
Cardboard boxes, egg cartons, paper rolls, or safe dog enrichment toys can work wonders.

👀 Supervise the chaos
Fun is great. Swallowing half the Amazon delivery box? Not so much.

🧠 Make them WORK for it
Hide treats inside boxes, wrap snacks in paper, or create little “rip and find” games.

❌ Don’t punish natural instincts
Redirect instead of getting frustrated. Some dogs genuinely need that outlet.

⚡ A tired shredder is a happier shredder
Mental enrichment often settles dogs faster than endless physical exercise.

Remember — enrichment is not one-size-fits-all 🐾
The trick is finding what YOUR dog naturally enjoys and using it in a healthy, structured way 💛

🐾 Tuesday Tips 🐾

Not all enrichment is created equal… because not all dogs are created equal 🤭

Some dogs want to chase, some want to chew, and then we get the Sniffers👃🐶 — the dogs whose noses are working overtime 24/7.

For these pups, sniffing isn’t just fun… it’s calming, tiring, confidence-building AND mentally enriching all at once 💙

Got a busy nose at home? Here are a few easy ways to help settle the sniffers:

🐾 Scatter feeding in the grass
🐾 Snuffle mats for rainy days
🐾 “Find it” games around the house
🐾 Slow sniff walks (yes… let them read the neighbourhood gossip 😌)
🐾 Cardboard boxes with hidden treats inside

A 20 minute sniff session can sometimes be more tiring than a long walk 👀

So if your dog seems busy, restless or always “on”, try working the nose instead of just the legs 🐕✨

Stay tuned as we explore different enrichment styles and the dogs that love them most 🤭💙
