🐾 What is Mange?

Mange is a skin disease caused by tiny mites that live on the skin of dogs and cats. It can cause severe itching, hair loss, sores, scabs, crusty skin, and secondary skin infections. If left untreated, mange can lead to significant discomfort, poor health, and suffering.

💚 Bravecto – Treatment and Prevention

Bravecto is an effective treatment for mange in both dogs and cats. It kills the mites responsible for the disease, helping affected animals recover and regain healthy skin and coats. Bravecto also provides long-lasting protection against mites, helping to prevent future infestations.

…here's a feral brought in for spaying by our friends Kerneelsie Cares.

Sterilising feral cats stops them over-breeding and cross-breeding. That, in turn, makes them less vulnerable to disease, hunger and fighting, and less likely to be regarded as a nuisance by the community.

…for a puppet show at Conville Primary School. Our Kaylin hosted, while head inspector Gerda of the George SPCA and our Vanessa reunited as puppeters – a role they previously played together in the SPCA's education unit.

We can't picture the kids in the audience, so please imagine the fun as Kaylin, Vanessa, Gerda and the puppets showed them how to care for animals.

Baie dankie to Conville Primary for welcoming us and providing a platform for our message of care 🐾

…Anton Meyer of steel fabrication business Gallie Sweis / Tonandi Sleepwa/Trailers for kindly building a new bed for our crematorium.

Cremation is a sad but necessary part of what we do, and we are very grateful to Anton for thinking of us, the animals and their grieving owners.

We have altered our opening hours slightly to allow staff to assist clients remaining at the end of the day, and to complete daily tasks.

Our gates will close at the times listed. Only clients already in the waiting area will be assisted. We politely ask that all clients arrive well before closing time to avoid disappointment.

𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞:
🐾 Consultations are on a 'first come, first served' basis. We do not offer appointments and do not have a large team. Please be patient when in the branch or when phoning.
🐾 If you bring a dog to our waiting area, please have it on a leash. If you bring a cat, please have it in a carrier. We do not have separate areas for dogs and cats, and animals brought to us may be injured, distressed and reactive.
🐾 We will NOT dispense or prescribe medication for animals that have not been examined by one of our vets or vet nurses.
🐾 The PDSA does not do outcalls. For emergencies involving animals that cannot be brought to the hospital, please contact the SPCA.
