This April was an exciting and rewarding step forward in production animal medicine and sustainable farming. In conjunction with Ramsem - PTY LTD Bloemfontein and Dr. Thomas Steyn, we embarked on an intensive three-day laparoscopic AI program across three different farms in the Eastern Cape.

Working outside the walls of George Animal Hospital and directly on farms allows us to bring advanced reproductive technology to producers in a practical, efficient, and welfare-conscious manner. Laparoscopic artificial insemination is not only a valuable tool to improve genetic progress and reproductive performance, but also contributes toward more ethical and sustainable farming practices.

By improving conception rates and allowing access to superior genetics, producers are able to strengthen flock quality, productivity, and long-term sustainability while minimizing unnecessary stress on animals. This aligns with our shared goal of advancing animal welfare and responsible farming practices within South African agriculture.

A sincere thank you to the farmers who welcomed us onto their properties, to RamSem Bloemfontein for their collaboration, and to Dr. Thomas Steyn for sharing his expertise and passion for progressive livestock reproduction.

That face says, "Are you a vet or my best friend?" and honestly, with our team, it's both.

This little beagle came in for a check-up and left with a clean bill of health, a few extra chin scratches, and what we're pretty sure was a tiny smile. Our vets believe every patient deserves a greeting that makes a tail wag before the stethoscope even comes out.
