Meet Maggie, our first special-needs bottle baby… puppy!🐶 🍼

Maggie entered the world with a body that let her down, much like many French Bulldogs.
She had life-saving surgery on the day she was born to put her intestines back into her tiny body. Sadly, this was just the start of her issues. Maggie also has a fontanelle (basically a hole in her skull), which will hopefully close over time. She was unable to nurse because she has a severe cleft palate, so she has to be tube-fed.
Of course, we will only fight for Maggie if she wants to fight, and she certainly has so far. Her big surgical scar has started to heal, and we just hope it continues to do so with careful monitoring and disinfection. We are not out of the woods there just yet.
The next most important thing we need to assist Maggie with will be cleft palate surgery, which would hopefully allow her to eat normally. This is still not guaranteed, and we are doing a lot of research alongside our vet to make sure we find a specialist who can confidently perform the surgery.
She has a long road ahead, and this is not even counting the many, many issues that French Bulldogs can face in their lives. Some common issues they experience are shown on our last slide. We urge everyone to educate themselves about the realities of irresponsible breeding and the health problems it can create.
