🌟 Foster Family Spotlight – November 🌟
The Yakima Humane Society is incredibly thankful for our amazing foster families, who make it possible for us to save more lives every single day. Because of them, we’re able to intake more animals and create space in our overcrowded shelter.
With the thousands of animals that come through YHS each year, many need a temporary foster home before they’re ready for adoption. Fostering a homeless pet is a truly rewarding and enriching experience — it’s perfect for families or individuals who love animals but aren’t ready to commit to a full-time companion. A strong foster program is essential to any shelter’s success, giving animals a much-needed break from the shelter environment and helping them become even more adoptable.
🐾 This month, we’re thrilled to shine our Foster Spotlight on Tracy Anderson and family! 🐾
Tracy joined our foster team in 2024 and has been an incredible caregiver to many of our kittens.
She shared a few words about what fostering means to her as well as some photos of past foster kittens. Tracy shares:
“There are many reasons we absolutely love fostering YHS kittens. We enjoy giving the kittens a loving, fun home environment to grow in. It’s deeply rewarding to help prepare them for their forever families. These little beings fill our souls and hearts with so much joy — they give back as much as they receive.
There’s nothing better than coming home to a litter of kittens crawling all over you, or earning a shy one’s trust and having them fall asleep in your arms. We can’t get enough of their playful antics (our camera rolls are very full!). They require so little and give so much. Honestly, I think the kittens actually foster us. We are honored and grateful for their presence in our lives. Why have a few kittens when you can have them all!”
