An amazing update on one of our cats below.

I had a pleasure of adopting Bastet back in March now her new name is Lucy. She’s opening my eyes too many things. The first photo was when I adopted her and then the second and third is her being loving and awesome.

Luisa really struggled with kennel life in her time with us. We were so glad that her family looked past her stress of being kenneled and saw the amazing dog she could be. Update below!

Three weeks of loving Lu 🩷

Her hair has all grown back, she’s off all anxiety medication but only drools when there’s food involved 😊 She’s so incredibly soft, she has tons of playful energy, she’s decided it’s safe enough to be a bit naughty from time to time (defluffing moms slippers and eating tortoise roca) because the worst she’ll get is an “ohmygoshNOOOOLulu”

She’s not 100% sure why we keep the moving rock inside but decided to feed into our delusion as long as she gets his leftover carrots

She loves squeaky toys, would probably let me do open heart surgery for a treat and is very enthusiastic about taking up as much of the king size bed as possible because dog beds are for peasants now that a sofa or memory foam are also an option

She and Benny are getting along really well, right on track with starting to really play WITH each other not just AT each other and bond at the three week mark now that everyone has realized there's enough food to go around and mom has two hands which means she can pet ✨two dogs at once✨

They even willingly bark at the squirrels from the same recliner (rip)

Here are SOME new faces that either came in this week or became available. If you are looking to adopt please go to our website to learn more about the one you are interested in, if they are still available they will still be post. If the animal is no longer available they will no longer be posted. If you are missing a pet please file a LOST report on our website site so we can cross reference with all animals in our facility and animals that come into our facility into the future, we keep these on file for 30 days.

All of our currently available animals are on our website. Please check there for information on the pets, if the animal is no longer listed it is no longer available. If you need more information please contact our adoption center as they know our pets best. We recommend you check the website frequently if you are looking to adopt as it gets updated daily as new animals come in or if adoptions fall through.

We got a sweet surprise from the Yakima City Community Service Officers! 🐾🍦 They stopped by YHS with pup cups for our shelter dogs, and we couldn’t be more grateful! 🐶❤️

It’s moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to be part of such an amazing and caring community. Thank you for thinking of our pups and helping make their day a little extra special! 🥰

Meet Laverne! 💕 This sweet 6-year-old Boxer/Mastiff mix weighs 70 pounds and has the most adorable droopy ears!

Laverne may be a little shy at first, but once she gets comfortable, her loving personality shines. She’s very people-oriented, wants to please, and loves being close to her humans. 🥰

She’ll do best with a patient family willing to give her time, reassurance, and positive encouragement while she settles in and builds confidence.

YHS is remembering Riley Thomas, a valued member of our team for many years. Riley joined shelter tours, helped with dog behavior testing, visited local schools for educational programs and supervised construction projects. He touched many lives and made a lasting difference in our community. 🌈🐾

🐾 MELLY IS BACK… LET’S NOT LET HER STAY LONG! 🐾

The first picture is Melly with us as a puppy. The second is Melly back with us as an adult, just one year later. 💔 Let’s make her second stay at the shelter as short as possible!

Meet Melly, a one-year-old German Shepherd/Newfoundland mix weighing around 85 pounds. She’s a sweet, silly, dorky girl looking for a new family through no fault of her own. She was surrendered due to landlord issues, and her previous family described her as good with people, kids, and other dogs.

Melly is the ultimate Velcro dog—she wants to be wherever her people are! ❤️ She’s affectionate, playful, friendly, and active, but can be a little insecure and looks to her humans for guidance. A patient family who can give her reassurance and help her build confidence will be a wonderful match.

She’s also crate trained and used to sleeping in her crate at night, giving her new family a great head start. 🏡

Guess that breed mix with hints provided below! Can you guess Daisy's breed mix (formerly known as Sadie)?

Daisy was adopted into a loving home and her family just HAD to know what breeds made up her beautiful mix. She has 20 breeds in her (holy supermutt)! It can be pretty hard to guess all 20, but can you guess the top breed or two? Here's a hint, her top most breed starts with a "C" and her second breed starts with and "A".
