We are closed today but will reopen tomorrow with normal business hours.

Make sure your pets have some form of identification such as a collar with a tag. Can’t get a tag last minute? Put some duct tape around your pet’s collar and write your contact information on it with sharpie. We recommend leash walking your pets starting in the afternoon and not leaving them unattended outside. When inside make sure they have a safe space, maybe play the radio for them to listen to. If your pet goes missing or you find a pet we recommend filing a Lost/Found Report on our website and post on social media. We also recommend keeping an eye on our website and walking through our facility in person after 1:30 PM on days we are open. You can also contact our adoption center for other resources as to where to post found pets and be placed on our waiting list if owners can’t be found. Please have a fun day while also taking precautions for your pets!

Jasper is a handsome boy with a heart of gold that just wants to be loved.

He came into us microchipped and we were hoping for a quick reunion with his owners. When we called them they told us their ex had the dog last, so we quickly called them but never heard back… That was over two months ago. Jasper loves to play and will even self-entertain with squeaky toys and rope toys by tossing them in the air to chase. He has met both small and large dogs and seems to not be sure what to do but tries to initiate play and looks back to the person holding his leash for reassurance. If you are looking for a silly boy with an equally silly smile, check out Jasper on our website.

We get all sorts of amazing dogs into our shelters, even Corgi's! This boy got swept up into his forever home last year and seems to be living his best life. Thanks for the update!

Last September, I adopted my very first rescue, and 4th corgi, Fred from the Yakima Humane Society. Since day one he has been such an amazing, chaotic, snuggly best friend to me and my family. I had lost my first heart and soul corgi in 2023, and almost a year to the date of her passing, I saw Fred. Right after graduation, I signed the papers and brought him home.
Immediately, Fred changed into such a bright and happy boy when he met his new siblings. Fred loves to cuddle, play with his corgi sisters, steal every sock in sight, chew up ALL his toys, and especially be the center of attention. He is so sassy and the biggest love bug to anyone he meets. I’m so glad I was able to adopt him. Your staff and dedication to saving animals has blessed me with yet another furry friend and soulmate. Thanks for giving us both a new outlook on life. ❤️

Where are our Bull Terrier lovers at? He-Man is ready to rumble on out of here!

Meet He-Man, a five year old Bull Terrier mix weighing 56 pounds.

He-Man came to us with multiple injuries all over his body, after several weeks of healing He-Man is feeling much better and is ready to find his forever home. He-Man is an energetic boy who loves all people. Not the most graceful dog, he makes up for that with boundless enthusiasm. He-Man has met a dog while with us and he is a bit like a bull in a china shop when he meets other dogs, friendly but unable to read the room when the dog has had enough. Due to this we recommend a meet and greet prior to adoption if there are other dogs in the home as they might appreciate him in their business. We recommend doing some Bull Terrier research prior to adoption. Apply to adopt He-Man on our website or come down and meet him in person, no appointment required!

Fourth of July is just around the corner, let’s keep our pets as safe and protected as possible.

Remember to always have identification on your pets, we recommend microchips as well as collars with tags. Can’t get a tag in time? Wrap duct tape around their collar and write your contact information on it with sharpie.

Leash walk your dogs or let them out in the yard with leashes starting in the afternoon, you never know when those fireworks are going to start! Don’t leave them outside unattended and do short potty breaks as the night goes on.

Play with your dog early in the day, wear them out so they are ready to go down and have less energy in the evening.

Have a safe space for your dog where they are comfortable and unable to injure themselves if they get scared.

Play the radio for your dog as background noise to help calm them and distract them from the fireworks.

Remember, fireworks may be fun for people but most animals are scared of them. Let’s do everything we can to keep our pets safe and home this year.

Last week we took in 53 animals and had 57 success stories. That's what we call a good week. Don't worry, we still have plenty of animals to choose from and lots of new faces. Stephen is one of our new faces looking for his forever home. He is a 90 pound German Shepherd mix and is hoping someone will swoop him up.

We’re incredibly grateful to Forbes Mercy for his outstanding support of YHS! Earlier this year, Forbes generously donated 10,000 microchips - enough to provide an entire year’s supply for the pets in our care and the community! That means thousands of animals have a better chance of finding their way home, thanks to him.

His generosity didn’t stop there: Forbes recently made another incredible donation to extend our “Buy One, Get One Free” spay & neuter promotion through the end of July! What started as a June-only offer will now help even more pets get the care they need!

📅 Ready to book your spay or neuter appointment?
📧 Email us at [email protected] to schedule!

Thank you, Forbes, for helping us build a safer, healthier community for pets and the people who love them! ❤️🐾

If the animal is no longer available they will no longer be posted. Who else loves a senior dog?! Grogu is too old to be living in the shelter, let’s share this guy and help him find his forever home!

Meet Grogu, an eight year old Staffie mix weighing around 60 pounds.

Grogu is a sweet boy who seems to have had a rough go of it recently, he came in to us with severe ear infections and some hair loss. Grogu will sit for treats like a good boy and walks incredibly on leash. He is a mellow boy with a great personality that deserves only the best. This very friendly boy has perked up a ton since healing, he loves to chew on different toys and because he is a super chewer he needs tough toys so he doesn't destroy them right away. He loves to play with sticks and will go for short little runs when he plays before taking a snooze. Grogu has met another dog while in our care and did very well, we think he could be a good candidate to go to a home with other dogs or could be happy as the only dog. We always recommend a meet and greet prior to adoption. Grogu has the perfect amount of activity. We love the sweet goober and know you will too.
