For more than six decades, Petaluma Speedway has been part of our community's history, bringing generations of families, racers, and fans together. Since 1961, Saturday night racing has been a Petaluma tradition, creating countless memories and contributing to the character of our city.
Now, with important decisions surrounding the future of the Speedway, Fairgrounds, and development in Petaluma, the direction of our City Council matters more than ever.
JOHN SHRIBBS HAS TAKEN A STAND!
Shribbs has expressed his support for preserving Petaluma Speedway and Fairgrounds and has opposed eight-story development.
WHO IS JOHN SHRIBBS?
John brings decades of experience in education, scientific research, environmental stewardship, and public service. According to his published biography, his background includes 16 years as a Science Teacher at Casa Grande High School, 12 years as a Senior Research Biologist, a PhD in Horticulture, and four years serving on the Petaluma City Council. He has also served as Vice Chair of the Agricultural & Open Space Advisory Committee, Director of the North Bay Watershed Association, and City Council Liaison to the Climate Action Commission.
SHELINA MOREDA SPEAKS OUT IN SUPPORT OF JOHN SHRIBBS!
In her public endorsement, Shelina Moreda described Shribbs as the only incumbent who stood against eight-story buildings and expressed her confidence that he would help save Petaluma Speedway and Fairgrounds.
What makes her statement particularly interesting is her acknowledgment that she and Shribbs haven't always agreed. In fact, she openly admits they've butted heads over issues in the past. Yet, despite those differences, she describes their conversations as respectful, productive, and focused on finding solutions.
Moreda praises Shribbs for his honesty, integrity, willingness to listen, and thoughtful approach to difficult decisions. She points to his scientific background as an asset, explaining that he carefully dissects issues and considers different perspectives before making decisions.
Her endorsement reflects the importance of elected officials being able to disagree respectfully while working toward common goals.
