Southern Paws VA Animal Rescue 501c3 Foster/Volunteer based animal rescue founded in Winchester VA 2016 became 501c3 in 2017 All volunteer rescue for rabbits, dogs and cats.

We wish to help rescue those animals in need of re homing, surrendered/dumped, found in shelters and rehabilitate and re home each pet to a safe and loving home. We educate others in the community how to properly care for animals, vet, and spay and neuter animals to help the animals' welfare and avoid overbreeding and dumping of unwanted animals at shelters. If in case we cannot take in an animal

through a foster, we will assist in helping find a safe home or rescue for that pet. All of our animals will be in foster care and not in a kenneled facility to make the pet feel at home and loved.

We wanted to give a shout out to our amazing foster, Maryjo.
Originally there were 4 cockatiels, unfortunately one passed away. He passed away in her shirt next to his partner. 💔 thankfully he had an amazing caretaker that allowed him to pass peacefully and loved him until his very last breath. Fostering is already hard enough, especially when you lose your foster before they find their new family. We’re thinking of you Maryjo. Thank you for everything you do for our babies!

We will come out and place Easter eggs all around your yard with candy inside for your kids to find !!

It’s all donation based if we do 50 eggs or less !!

All the proceeds go to the rescue 🙂 must be local to Wi******er and we will bring our kids to come and “hide” them 🪺

Estrella went to a foster to adopt home today!!

We learned yesterday she is indeed fully blind. Her eyes were never fully formed as a baby. She also has a head tilt which is most likely neurological. The babies were in**ed and are now receiving the proper care for the conditions and different diagnosis they received. Her future looks bright however, with a very loving family that has experience with blind dogs and medical case dogs.

Update : the foster to adopt home didn’t work out, she’ll be coming into fosrer care tomorrow .

Our sweet girl, Millie went to a foster to adopt home!💜💜💜💜

We have started her medical journey and she was evaluated today for her conjoined toe and teeth issues.

Her bottom k9’s are basically touch the top gums of her mouth. When this occurs, it is highly recommended it gets removed and then do “ball therapy” essentially to help the new adult teeth, grow in the correct way. Both of the “twins” have this issue. Most likely genetic issues. We learned these babies were in**ed due to no fault of their own, they all have some type of deformity or health issue that is physically noticeable.

We’re doing a 2 week hold for this girl before she’s available for adoption.

We spent all night bathing , getting mats out of their fur, getting stuck chunks of f***s off their bottoms and bellies....

We spent all night bathing , getting mats out of their fur, getting stuck chunks of f***s off their bottoms and bellies. It was a little chaotic but the babies all sat super well for all of it. They loved their bath time and after. We even used a small flea comb to get the yucky things off their curly fur. This morning we also cleaned their ears, they were caked in mud. We vaccinated everyone and they got their first dose of deworming. We’re still looking for a groomer that can help us make these babies feel better and look better!

Please research the breed before applying for them.
These dogs require a high level of maintenance for grooming . Although they’re well socialized , they’re babies and still require training .

Meet Puppy 3!

There’s something going on with one of her eyes. It’s more droopy , possibly a lazy eye. We’ll have her checked out by our veterinarian this week. She seems to get around fine. She’s very well mannered , and very gentle compared to the other two.

Meet Estrella - she is our newest intake .
Special needs poodle baby girl .
Almost 3 months old
She’s special needs because we are almost certain she’s 💯 blind or can maybe only see shadows from one eye. She runs into just about everything , so she’s confined to just one level of the house.

Brother and sister had an oops litter,
And she was born this way, another one has an ear deformity and our second puppy has a toe deformity.
